Ah, that's why the creature looked so familiar. At first I was thinking Goro on steroids

I feel like the action was a bit lacking in places, but other than agree that it felt very similar to Mando.

As far as the plot going forward, to me this felt like kind of a prologue/world building episode. Didn't really advance much forward other than giving us the understanding that Boba Fett's place in this world is going to be threatened, but definitely sets the scene for events going forward.

I was excited to I see it. After watching it, I'd give it a solid C-.

There was too much left wanting here.

The Jabba Chamber that Fett occupies has been canonized as a place where you comply, die, or risk death to negotiate (like Leia in Return dressed as a bounty hunter).

To see the smug dismissal of that chamber (by the questionably acted emissary from wherever) as a symbol of treacherous power was . . . A let down.

Everything symbolic about it was thrown out (by a character we have no investment in) as a plot point advancement. It's like it cheapened everything about the ominous Jabba Keep built by Return of the Jedi.

It's sloppy and easy writing. "OH, you thought Jabba's palace was a sinister place for a sinister character??? Well look, here's someone sooo bad they don't even care! Isn't that shocking??!?!?!?"

No. It's not.

The throne of Jabba should not be cheapened just to lazily up the stakes for the new series.

*steps off ridiculous soap box*

Yes. That song sucked.

That's because even Lucas himself could keep his hands off what was already working by trying to "improve" what everyone loved already.

And FWIW, Boba Fett's original voice was better, too.

Unfortunately, Jason Wingreen selfishly died at age 95 in 2015.

That episode was terrible, even my 9 year old was bored...
In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

To me just signifies how much that throne has fallen. Having Bib Fortuna be the next guy with a handful of body guards easily dispatched is a sign of this. If Fett is going to build it back up he has work to do. Not doing so well with some jester asking for money for the mayor. Then he gets attacked openly in the streets and regular citizens steal from his helmet. He has work to do to send a message to get his sought after respect.

I kept checking how much time was left in the episode because it was so bad.

Of course, I will keep watching.

Man, that was terrible. And I feel kind of stupid because my wife (who loves Mando) had no desire to watch this, but I pushed us to watch this instead of something else. She was audibly sighing during the episode.

Boring pacing, action was Iron Fist level bad (maybe worse), and no plot whatsoever...just a bad pilot. In hindsight, they shouldn't have shown us these flashbacks in the beginning. I think that just removed any and all mystique of the Boba Fett I grew up with. I knew that was a risk with this show going in but the way they did it felt cheap and too on the nose.

Thought it was funny that Rebo and the other guy are now playing Latin music in Jennifer Beals bar. Theme music was good. It took me several episodes to get on board with Mando theme but ultimately liked it. This seems to take that and change it up a little.

Ming Na Wen is hot. Probably the best thing to look at on this show so far.

I'm not even going to make my wife watch this going forward. I will watch it by myself.

Watched it last night. Best way to describe it was that I was "just interested not really entertained." All the flashback sequences >>> all the present day sequences. CGI was a little off at places but not so much that it was a huge distraction. Two biggest complaints for me were 1) the combat was soooooo clunky and slow - it felt like an old Power Rangers episode and 2) I don't understand who they're trying to portray Boba as - he's supposedly a badass and the flashbacks seem to confirm that, but in the present day he's kind of feckless - confused about what's going on, maybe too old for this ****, who knows? Like why is he taking over Jabba's empire? Does he want to get rich? Does he want to protect people? I think they're trying to make him a morally gray character but it's coming across bafoonish.

The world-building is cool and I'm going to keep watching, but it didn't draw me in like Mando did. Which is funny considering it's the same people behind both series. Hopefully it'll get better as they reveal more story, but it wasn't a very entertaining first episode.

After watching the first episode I left with a big bag of meh. Which I was okay with because I am used to Mando being very backend loaded with great episodes. So I still have hope. They still have a lot of things to explain and it is hard to do that in just one episode.

I got a chance to watch it this weekend and it just kind of felt like a throwaway show. I didn't love it or hate it, I didn't dislike it, but I didn't really like it either, it just kind of felt empty and pointless. I'm assuming this show will get primarily into organized crime on Tattooine, and the Star Wars universe certainly has it's share of scoundrels. The Mandolorian got me hooked quickly, I was in, this one was nothing of the sort. This just felt like it was created because The Mandolorian was a hit, and they wanted to capitalize on it. I would rather them give Bill Burr his own show to see what a former storm trooper does that's trying to atone for his past.

Boba Fett will be a terrible crime lord. Not sure why they are trying to make this happen.

Gents, it was an introduction and was 75% backstory on his escape, and his enslavement. My guess is Wednesday this week will be a lot more world / plot building, setup of an antagonist (the mayor, other Hutts, etc.) and recruiting the Dons to his side.

I hope it goes offworld - Jabba's crime empire extended past Tatooine, that's just where he was based. I REALLY hope we get to go to Nal Hutta in this series.

Agree. I don't get the entire premise. He's a quiet solo bounty hunter (pardon the solo pun). The whole thing feels so out of character that instead of it providing a source for stories and difficulty, it just doesn't seem believable from the outset

It just hit me that the pilot episode was basically a Star Wars lesson in the Peter Principle.

What an awful pilot. I guess the good news is it can only get better from here.

My thought is that they wanted to break down the myth of Boba Fett by showing him vulnerable after surviving the Sarlacc and will show him getting stronger and more badass as he recovers.

i get that part, but he is still a wuss in the "present" day, 6-ish years later, after being somewhat of a mini badass in the Mando series.

But that doesn't make sense considering the time lapse here.

This shows takes place almost immediately after Mando on the timeline where he was a total badass. Now, he's old and decrepit all of a sudden.

They should have just made a Star Wars Underworld show that leveraged some of the things we have seen in Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mando. Leave Boba out of it.

maybe this Bob is a variant, and Mephisto zapped him into an alternate timeline.

I mean, it is not Jeremy Bulloch playing Boba from the sacred OT timeline, now is it....
