Luke was never a god, he's just a Jedi, like Qui Gon Jinn, or Obi-wan, or Yoda. Maybe you (like the universe in StarWars), made him out to be something greater than he really was. He himself even says as much in the freakin' movie. He's been built up to be something beyond what any person (even a Jedi) really is. He's a legend in his own time, but in the end still saved the day.
The last scene was a bunch of kids telling stories about the legend that is Luke Skywalker. WHAT ELSE COULD YOU WANT? Would you like to have seen him fly through space like Leia, and then force cruch all the First Order ships or walkers? Yeah, that would have been a one dimensional, lame movie...

That felt like an on old fashioned WW2 movie.

Loved the action sequences.

I think some fans will be frustrated because this movie answers no questions and leaves you wondering where in the hell they could possibly go from here. The ultimate bad guy is dead. The new bad guy is flawed and may still not irretrievable. The ultimate good guy is dead. His sister, who is dead in real life, survives. How do you move this story forward?

You are being dense. You know there is plenty else we wanted and/or could've gotten from Luke. At the very least, actually leaving the island and fighting Kylo for real. (Though let's admit, if Luke had started knocking over those walkers with the force, we'd have lost our ****ing minds.)

I'll probably get roasted for this.

Throwaway characters. The theme was throwaway characters. Let's take a bunch of characters. Build them up for nearly 4 years, and then kill them all off without explaining anything about them. Phasma, Snoke, Luke. I just don't get it. Phasma added nothing to the entire storyline except having a soldier with cool armor to sell toys. Snoke apparently finished Kylo's training? Yet he can't beat a girl that has trained in the force for exactly 1 day total. Yet he can trick a sith lord and murder him. And then there was Luke. Who finally accepts that there is another person who can become a Jedi, and then decides to become one with the force after one day of training her.

Let's circle back to that. One day of training. Yet we are taking on two Sith Lords? Even if she could have turned Kylo, how the hell was she supposed to realistically help in that situation? Oh right, because she is the most powerful Jedi ever. Already seeing people's futures, lifting thousands of pounds of rocks (It took Luke weeks to lift an X-Wing), and again, standing toe to toe and being evenly matched with a Sith Lord.

I will give credit where credit is due: I do love the new 3. Poe is a complete badass, and his storyline was the least ridiculous. I liked Finn's storyline, but I have a real pet peeve about two identical vehicles, both running at full speed, and one catching the other. And I wasn't a fan of the whole love story. And Besides Rey being J-1000, I really do enjoy her character.

And the action scenes were awesome. Easily the best in any Star Wars movie previously. Taking down Snokes ship was badass, and the silence right after was the best part of the movie. Music was top notch like always.

It just didn't feel like a Star Wars movie. It just felt like "Guardians of the Galaxy 3: We Are Doing Star Wars This Time!"

And Matrix Luke was ridiculous. Almost as much as the trained Jedi kid at the end that's a sweeper.

Again, I know that everyone else probably loved it. Ultimately I thought it was a great sci-fi action flick with a terrible story choices. I'm not trying to troll, I'm just disappointed that I didn't like it. So I'm sorry.

Nobody really wanted to see Luke activate God mode. But we did expect to see flesh and blood Luke have moments with his lightsaber and with the force before this trilogy concluded. It appears we were denied that.

But I did appreciate the Snoke dialogue along with the kid at the end. Dark and Light rising to meet one another. It's a big universe and I am definitely OK moving the series past the Skywalkers.

We'll get over it, but there were other creative ways to do the same way but also give us fans what we wanted from Luke!

I think they showed Kylo to have gotten what he wanted, or any darkside user for that matter wants... to control the galaxy. He's the Supreme Leader of THE power in the galaxy. Snoke had to control Kylo, and then it turns out he's not so Supreme, Kylo though, he has NO ONE to challenge him for power, he proved as much by putting General Hux in his place.

It's not about the ultimate good guy nor his sister, these three movies are about the new younger group. The ultimate good guy is actually a girl named Rey, not Luke. She's so good she wanted and tried to turn Kylo back to the light, and she's not related to him and he has been killing her friends. That's ultimate good guy stuff, not failing your nephew like Luke did.

It's not about Luke or Leia, it's now about Finn, Rey, Poe and Kylo. Stop whining about Luke, after all, he saved the day once again. Seriously, what the hell else do you want?

Edit: Okay, I understand about Luke being less than. So Luke didn't maybe go out like we wanted, but it made his story all the more real and emotional. And once again, he saved the day, and the galaxy. Hero, legend type stuff...

Things I loved:
  • Rey and Kylo. They have great chemistry together when they are both on screen. I loved when she's talking about the mirror scene, and you think she's talking to Luke, but instead she's spilling everything to Kylo.
  • Snoke basically toying with Rey. For all the complaints about Rey being too strong against Kylo Ren, I really felt like this is how things should have gone down. Rey tried to use the force, and Snoke basically laughed in her face.
  • Kylo killing Snoke. It has always annoyed me that Vader took orders from the Emperor. I feel like someone truly on the dark side would kill their master and take over. I love that Kylo used Snoke's arrogance against him, but did it for personal gain.

Things I hated:
  • The casino planet. Everything about it seemed like I was watching something cut from the prequels.
  • Pretty much everything to do with Finn and Rose.
  • Leia's force ride. Even with the force, it seems like you would die in a few seconds of being in open space.
  • Whatever those things were cleaning up the jedi houses.
  • Milking an alien.

I really wasn't enjoying the first half of the movie. At point, when they were on the casino planet, I was thinking this might be the worst Star Wars film of all. The end got much better, but overall I think it gets only a C+ or B-at best. I am very concerned about Rian Johnson getting the next trilogy already.

This is one part I really liked. Snoke was very much like the Emperor. Keeping him around for the next movie would make this very much like the original trilogy. Having Kylo Ren kill Snoke and become the real ultimate bad guy differentiates this trilogy from the original.

I also feel liked how Kylo used Snoke's arrogance against him, instead of it just being a lightsaber battle. Snoke foresaw everything that happened, he just didn't see Kylo staying on the dark side meant killing his master.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy cause I did really like the movie overall...

But yeah the casino planet was bad start to finish. Definitely felt like the prequals. You'd think they would understand by now what feels like Star Wars and what doesn't.

All the locations in Rogue One... Star Wars.

Casinos, bars with death sticks, Senate Chambers... Not Star Wars.

We get it, it's a big Galaxy... But you don't have to show us the part that looks like the capital from the hunger games. JJ nailed this part of it... Rian unfortunately couldn't help but let some of his inner Lucas escape.

Gotta say some good stuff before bed...

Kylo killing Snoke and then immediately fighting with Rey was completely awesome. To early to tell, but first impression is it's up there with the other great Star Wars moments / scenes.

The payoff was not good IMO, but Luke's last scene was great. Winks at 3PO, brushes off the Walker assault, etc. Everything right up to him vanishing was great.

Light speed battering ram was an amazing piece of directing and art. Fantastic!

Luke's character overall was well done and having him find his way again via Rey and then by Yoda was great. Again, just feels like they owe us more than one with the force Luke for IX.

Wrong. Kylo Ren is the unquestionable Supreme Leader of the entire known galaxy. He might even be more powerful than Emperor Palpatine was given that he has no one near his level of control/influence (maybe Rey, but she doesn't want to steal his position, only to defeat or convert him), to challenge him for his position.

He might have put himself in a position that no one in the StarWars universe ever has. TRUE unlimited power...

I just got out and thought it was damn good movie. Not top flight, but still really good. I after a second or third viewing it might grow on some people.

You need a scorecard to kept track of everybody that died.

Why did they insist on keeping Leia alive? She is one of least interesting people in the movie. And Carrie Fisher is dead. Seems like they went out of the way to keep her alive.

The flying Leia reminded me of Ultraman. Really cheesy and dumb. Rian over thought this scene badly. Bridge blows up, Akbar killed, and Leia knocked unconscious. That is better scene. If you want to show her using the force, have Leia communicate with Luke, move some rocks or something.

The casino scene should have been on editing floor. Didn't do anything. Way too complicated and just got the story sideways. I actually like the big kangaroo/hyena hybrids. Just have Del Toro double cross them quickly and move on.

The Rey/Luke scenes to start were slow. Luke being standoffish was fine. But it was like quicksand for awhile.

Laura Dern cutting that ship in half was top 5 Stars Wars moment of all time for me. Fantastic scene.

If the franchise killed off Luke, he went out in style. Totally awesome.

Never get tired of seeing the Millennium Falcon flying around, blowing up bad guys.

Kylo and Rey fighting together was great. Wish they panned out a little bit during the fight. Like the red guards.

Thought maybe they made the "breakup" between Rey and Kylo a little quick and too convenient. Did he kill Snoke to help Rey or because he saw opportunity to take over the galaxy. I wish he killed Snoke for selfish reasons, then forced to partner with Rey so there were no witnesses. Maybe a second viewing will make it clearer.

Really funny movie at times. Force Awakens had lots of humor too, but Last Jedi had even more.

I thought the broom sweeper kid was good. Showed how the Resistance was not dead and could grow. As somebody mentioned, it was a little heavy handed, but good scene.

The ladies that cleaned up the old Jedi temple were unnecessary. They looked like E.T. when he was in drag.
