Then who the hell is expecting to deal if he wants a top of the rotation stud like Sale, Quintana, or Archer? At some point he needs to take a leap of faith and turn prospects into assets.
I may be mistaken, but while these guys are solid prospects he's crazy if he thinks they can be legit contributors in 2017. Yeah they me on the squad but they'd be rookies with no ML experience, and I'm not seeing them as major pieces till at least 2018.
Exactly. Keeping all these "great" prospects with no room for them on the big league squad is worthless. What the hell does he e or the to trade for a top starter? Laughable if he thinks we will get guys like sale, Quintana, or archer without giving up a bregman, martes, or Tucker.
Who needs to give up top end guys for Sale, Quintana, or Archer when we can not give anything up and get guys like Fister, Fiers, and Morton.

Dear God, guys. We have had a good offseason. If we had given up the haul Boston did for Sale you guys would be pitching a fit.
Of course a GM is going to publicly state how much he likes his guys. A GM also has to keep 3, 5, and 10 year horizons in mind. Don't blow your load like the Rangers did last year.

ESPN had a segment on trading for Quintana. Said Astros give up Martes, Reed, and Daz. All 4 people on the panel said both teams should make the trade.
I'd be completely fine with that deal.
Maybe the Sox are asking for more. Jeff could have said those things to inflate the value of the prospects in order to need less of them in a deal. Some of you get so worked up about a comment when you have no idea of the full details that are going on in the background.

Yeah...That's not happening
Just throwing it out there as a thought for discussion. I also think it was worth noting as it's some good insight to why a deal hasn't been done.
Bottom line is that Lunhow thinks VERY highly of our prospects.

And isn't it nice. Sounds like many of you would run the team like Drayton.
Like he said. This is posturing as much as anythinh to negotiate a deal. And I agree with Buck... I'm glad to have a front office that doesn't just go all in and empty the farm.
Oh and I would be fine with that Martes/Reed/Daz deal. Kyle Tucker needs to be dang hard to pry away. Kid tore it up as a 19 year old and will hit the league right about the time George Springer is a free agent.
Jeff needs to publically speak about how guys are untouchable if they are or not. Obviously not everyone is and not all those guys were left off the offer for Sale. Otherwise the Astros wouldn't have been constantly floated around as someone in talks for the trade.
Everything I have read leads me to believe Bregman is untouchable. Martes and Tucker are not untouchable, but it needs to be a really good deal to move them.

now that I saw the tweets and the names that these teams are going after instead of him...I'd say something else is going on scaring these teams away. I am not sure if the Indians comments are a result of the physical or what.
