I have a question. Right before the Spain goal the Spanish player got knocked down and grabbed the ball. Then he just stood up and kept playing. Is that normal?

Note I know extremely little about soccer.

They called a foul. Usually teams wait a bit for players on their team to move forward, and/or get up off teh ground from being fouled. But you dont HAVE to wait *unless the ref indicates you do*

So they restarted it quickly and caught Portugal sleeping

it's normal for a quick restart on free kicks or throw-ins if you think you can catch the other team off guard... if not, you can wait for everyone to get in position for a slow restart to take your free kick or throw-in. if the ref intentionally slows it down to talk to someone or something, you cannot re-start fast, but that time, it was allowed and it worked.

Portugal looked like they had very tired legs towards the end. Merino all but walked between two defenders and they had no burst at all.
