You bend your legs and don't extend. You can't go studs out and not realize that can happen.

The ball made his foot bounce up, but he still led with his studs and would've gotten him on the boot or ankle. It's the right call.

I mean it's textbook SFP. He's coming in a speed, studs up, leg locked straight out and flushed the guy mid shin. You can't miss that call.

Yup. Gotta call that one, especially if it goes to review.

The "what could he have done?" is he could've not dove in straight legged with his studs pointed at the other player's ankle.

You can stutter your run up. You cannot stop the actual kicking motion when it starts.

They gave Belgium a game winning PK where the Belgium player came from behind the defender and jumped into his kick. That one was a lot worse than this one.
