Apparently Zubimendi also went down injured in the post match stuff. Both are ankle injuries
Piero Hincapie will be out for a while with sprained ankle (possibly three weeks). Martin Zubimendi could be back for the weekend. Both injured but in separate incidents in post-match training session on the pitch at Emirates.

I don't get how VG can do sooo well for Sweden and then completely disappear for us. I understand that we don't play to his strengths but he looks like a completely different player for us.
He absolutely can't play in a system where you are playing against a low block with physicality. He has only ever done well when he can get down hill and run. Sporting and Sweden both play behind the ball. He isn't near technical enough to play in games like this.chjoak said:

I fully agree, although in this match h3 has made several runs where the low cross is pulled behind him instead of sent to him. From both sides. He is dragging defenders with him, but the Eze and Bruno have both missed really good chances
This keeper can't catch the ball. Bruno and Rice need to keep ripping long shots
100% agree that our MF/W miss some good vertical runs from him but there are also numerous opportunities where someone gives him a good cross and he puts forth zero effort to get in front of the defender.
Its so annoying how often he loses challenges. Meanwhile on the other bench, dislike Giroud or not, he was outstanding in the air
I loved OG in the day. I wanted us to upgrade at ST but never wanted to sell him. He was the perfect situational ST just not consistent enough to the #1 guy.
I don't disagree with anything being said re: VK. Am I wrong in thinking that is a scouting issue though? If so, it's astounding to me that we could have such a swing and a miss, for that cost, at this level, at a time when we desperately needed a 9 to potentially put us in a dominant position for the next handful of years.
I understand it's always a gamble to an extent, but when you know our style and the environment a player thrives in, common sense should prevail. The fact that VG tallied 20+ goals last season in a system that doesn't feed him is actually pretty impressive when you think about it.

Would Sesko ultimately have been the better fit for us? I haven't watched him enough to know, but it was widely publicized during the transfer window that Arteta had "zeroed in on his guy" in Gyokeres.

He might have, the problem is that he didn't want Arsenal. He kept looking for an excuse not to join. Rejected us the 1st time because he was unwilling to compete with Havertz. Rejected us a 2nd time because ManU offered more money. He chose more money on a bad team.
I think Sesko was Arteta's guy and VG was Berta's. When Sesko's people/club started asking for higher fees and weird release clauses we switched to VG who was begging to come
