It has to be some kind of multi-year punishment. You shouldnt be allowed to commit violations for years, and run wild for years, and essentially "move on from it" after just a year.

What "should" happen, minimum.....

- Vacate every trophy awarded during the timeframe in questions
- Points deduction implemented this season large enough to force relegation for next season + an additional 20-40pt deduction waiting for them if/when they get back to the Prem
- Fine 200m+

Bottom line is the league has to make an example of City to make sure other owners/teams don't do the same

My guess is probably 20 points and 200 million...which, with their financial backing is nothing. The FA ain't got the stones to do what needs to be done here.

Honestly, chjoak's suggestion is about right, but I'd add transfer market restrictions for 5 years/10 windows on top of it. But again, FA won't do squat.

Is it bad that I don't care about those titles? I just want to see them punished with fines, transfer bans and points deduction. Stripping their title doesn't give me the joy back like what we experienced back in June. That can't be replaced.

I do want them to financially hurt to the point that their stars leave and then I want us to get Haaland so we can watch Odegaard and Haaland wreck this league for another 5-10 years

Quote:

An independent commission ruled in June that Everton must pay Burnley 35.1million after their breach of the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in 2021-22 was found to have given them a crucial sporting advantage.

At the time, this was viewed as a possible watershed moment, and the precedent that decision set could now be significant in relation to other clubs pursuing City for compensation.
Any legal action, however, could only happen after the appeals process has been completed, with Manchester City expected to challenge the ruling regarding the 114 breaches.

Quote:

The Athletic has been informed that it could turn out to be a class action, with the other Premier League sides coming together as one to seek damages.

Seeing a number of claims/rumors that if the EPL relegates City that the EFL may refuse them entry meaning that either the club would dissolve or have to be relegated to the National League.

While either of those scenarios would be simply amazing, I have a better chance of an intimate encounter with Emmy Rossum than City getting significant punishment of any sort.

Honestly if the league fails to provide a significant sanction, what is the point of these rules. In fact if the League gives a slap on the wrist, the EPL could easily break apart.

The argument I see from City fans even on texags is that City are being punished by the "Red Cartel" the owner for spending too much. The problem is even the "Red Cartel" was following the rules. We all know how much Arsenal struggled because of the cost of building the Emirates. Man U is also having similar money issues today.

The rules are about keeping clubs from going bankrupt. It also means you can't just buy a team you have to build a team which is hard.

They need to get hammered by the league like no other football club has gotten hammered in the history of the sport.

I've heard there's a possibility that City gets kicked down to League Two with the net result being that club being "ruined." Similar to what happened to SMU and the death penalty. SMU took multiple decades to recover.

There's also a meme circulating of Lance Armstrong holding up six fingers side by side with Pep holding up six fingers. The implication is City has been financially doping the past 15+ years so none if their accomplishments should be considered valid similar to Armstrong's.

Cue an appeal up to the Court of Human Rights to conclude that these accusations violate the rights of the Abu Dhabi management group and all charges should just get dropped.

I'll be curious to see if the Premier League sticks to their guns and sees this through. But all the taking heads I'm hearing are stating a simple one year relegation won't be near enough given the announced violations and with guilty charges.

I just personally don't see an outcome where City doesn't skate by here. They've become like the tu or bama of the EPL in just facing no consequences ever
