Is he still on loan? For some reason I thought we sold him already. He was an academy graduate so we get something either way.

No he is still on contract here until next summer. Last loan to Brentford ended in June

Is it just our goal to piss other clubs off all the time with low ball offers.

We've seen the market. We know that 70m for Newcastle's best player and captain isn't going to be enough.

Here's some more details from Ben Jacobs if you read the full post. I think Vini has put himself in a bit of a corner given his immense salary expectations and I wonder if he'd be too much of a seismic shift at the club.

If you want a game changer on the LW, it's about as good an option as you can get. But you have to be willing to give up some security for. He's not gonna have the same defensive work rate that Martinelli and Trossard had. Means you LB has to definitely be more alert and less marauding.

Yep. We'd have to pay him a huge salary and adjust our current system to accommodate him. Or he'd have to be willing to rotate based on the game state.

He's a great player. I get it. This might just be ambition but I worry it's also a sign that we just don't have many good options and are willing to change too much.

Desperation is way too strong a word, but we might feel a bit up the creek right now on trying to take the next step on the left.

He's our chode now and this will be GREAT for Rice to get some much needed rest not to mention they way they will be a menace when on the pitch at the same time.
