Squad Audit
Goalkeepers: 3
David Raya: He's not going anywhere
Kepa: I imagine he will be moved on. I think he actually has a 5m release clause if someone wants. Isn't a bad #2, but everyone will remember the cup final
Tommy Setford: If Kepa goes, do you promote him to #2 or buy someone else. Probably could use a full season on loan for experience.
Defenders: 8
Jurrien Timber: Not moving. Best 1v1 defender we have. Does have injury issues
Ben White: Hero of the Parade. Probably the most likely to move, but is currently injured. He though near the end of the season he started looking like his old self, but also massive injury issues.
William Saliba: Not going anywhere. Best CB partnership in the world.
Gabriel Magalhaes: Not going anywhere. Best CB partnership in the world.
Cristhian Mosquera: Versatile at CB/RB. I thought he had a great year. Still young for a defender.
Ricardo Calafiori: Kinda crazy to think the LB unlocks our offense, but he is that good. Does have some durability concerns. Don't want to sell him, but if Real Madrid come in with a massive offer you have to think about it.
Piero Hincapie: Pure defender. Obviously not going anywhere since we don't officially sign him until July 1 I believe. Can play both CB/LB
Marli Salmon: Young up and coming defender that I'm just including here.
I moved MLS into the midfield. We have the best defense in the world and I wouldn't really change it. Replace FB if we sell one of them. Rumors I've seen are Nathaniel Brown (German LB/Frankfurt) and Tino Livramento with Newcastle (plays both RB/LB).
Midfielders: 7
Declan Rice: Lynchpin. Arguably a top 3 midfielder in the world right now.
Martin Zubimendi: A tale of 2 seasons. Was fantastic in the fall, but ran out of gas around Feb/Mar and looked a shell of what he was. Looked really low on confidence and won't get any rest with the World Cup. Hope he can regain that spark with Spain. He isn't unsellable if someone comes in for him.
Christian Norgaard: Nice guy, but it was immediately apparent that Arteta doesn't trust him. Fully expect him to move on.
Mikel Merino: I don't think he's going anywhere. Sorely missed for the last 3rd of the season and can fill multiple roles.
Myles Lewis-Skelly: Looked so much better in midfield to end the season. Probably saved his spot at Arsenal with those performances among rumors that he could move on. Can be an emergency LB if needed.
Martin Odegaard: The Captain. My favorite player in the squad. And sadly a spot in the team that massively needs to improve. We need a #10 who is scoring goals and Martin isn't. Injuries have played a massive role in it, but its been 2 years of poor output now. I see 2 options. Move him on (although I'm not sure how much we could truly get for him) or move him officially into the #8 role and bring in a true #10. I will be crushed if he leaves
Eberechi Eze: Great story and kinda the only "moments" player we have that can make something out of nothing, but it is very inconsistent. Tends to only score bangers though.
We really need another creative player with better passing. We've got to get better in this department to control the tougher matches. Sandro Tonali from Newcastle is the only rumor I've seen so far.
Forwards: 9
Bukayo Saka: Starboy. Hale End. Down year for him and he isn't going to get any rest this summer. Hope he stays fit and can get back to his best next year.
Noni Madueke: Needs better end product, but I respect the guy for always being willing to take on his man.
Ethan Nwaneri: Took a big step back this year. Loan was awful, but part of that was Marsielle firing the coach we wanted him to work with immediately after he got there. I want him to have one more year, but the club will probably look to move him.
Max Dowman: Wonderkid and will hopefully continue to develop and see more game time.
Kai Havertz: I think Arteta still views Kai as the first choice striker. Another guy with injury issues, but does come up with clutch goals.
Viktor Gyokeres: I think he was vastly improved by the end of the year, but his first touch and technique are just not really at the level. Team just doesn't really play to his strengths. Still 21 goals is solid output in year 1 and hope it can continue to improve.
Gabriel Jesus: Almost definitely moving on. I appreciate all he did to help Arsenal turn the corner a few years ago. Everton seems to be interested.
Leandro Trossard: As with most of the attack, inconsistent but scored some huge goals. Still one of the best finishers on the team. Obviously LW has been the big area of improvement for several years. Won't shock me if we move on from both of ours. If we do sell one, keep one, I imagine we would keep Trossard.
Gabriel Martinelli: Another child of the project. Great guy, but its probably time to move on. The goal output just isn't there. Great on the counter and has outstanding work ethic. But if we have to make room for upgrades he's the obvious choice.
The attack should be the main focus this summer and the initial rumors all point that way. Kroupi, Rogers, Alvarez, Monga, Barcola. The crazy thing is that there really aren't that many great options that guarantee success and they will all be crazy expensive. Its gonna be risky wherever they go.
