Mata is probably on the lower end of world class short players. Plus he gets dominated by big guys.
He had a few good spells, especially during our CL run, but overall he's still a pushover.
I just don't agree. He's salty and solid and was one of the few consistent bright spots along the last few years.

Or if we aquire Rooney.
More importantly, we've done just fine without him this campaign. Time to cash in & use those funds up top e.g. Rooney.
Once again - If United puts Rooney on the table, make the deal. If they refuse to sell a top player to us, however, why should we sell a top player to them?
I'd rather sell Mata for 10 million less pounds overseas than sell him to Man U for money only. As has been mentioned before, money means nothing to Roman. Why do we need 40m? Let him rot on the bench or even in the youth squad rather than strengthen a rival.

But to your other point, you are doing just fine w/o him this season so it's probably the right time to sell

No worries m8. I've tested it before on a used jersey and it does not work, at all. Once those lextra patches go on, the glue stays on for life.

It is what it is guys. Wish Mata would have had more of a chance in JMs system, but it doesn't make sense to keep that kind of player on the bench. I trust that JM, RA and the other decision makers at the club did what's best.
So we sold Mata and KDB for £58? Bought Salah for £17? Not a bad return if you ask me. Let's just hope we can get a ST that can score more frequently. I just don't think Eto will get another hat trick this season or brace for that matter.

Actually Smith, Salah and Matic only cost a combined £32M. With the sales of KDB and Mata there should be a profit of over £20M.
