The burger quality at Stripes has gone down a bit recently.

WTAW mentioned something about Pappas Restaurants coming.
quote:
Zoning change to redo parking spaces at the old S&W has been recommended for approval by committee. If approved, construction is planned for December or January. I guess it's possible the parking lots could be redone without a Pappas restaurant being built. They own other restaurant properties, so there's that.

Yep, right after Hooters opens

Parking will definitely have to be redone for a retention pond, which 1600 University lacked.

According to the Pappas' representative who was being interviewed they have firm plans to build a restaurant on the site if the rezoning is approved. Said there has never been any waver in their intent to locate there and the "delays" have simply been a result of the corporation's desire to fill some "staffing needs" (whatever that means) and to complete some other restaurant projects that have been in the works.
There was even mention of matching the landscaping scheme of Cheddar's and Fish Daddy's to blend into the area.
Pretty sure they don't get that detailed in their public discussions if they don't actually plan to build. Still interested to know exactly WHAT restaurant will locate there . . . originally heard Pappadeaux, but maybe I've missed an update that confirms that.

Grand opening started 11 minutes ago. 30 beers from Texas on draft, ~80 whiskeys, and a badazz interior (especially for Northgate). Last Friday and Saturday was a soft opening that seemed to go well. Hope it's a hit!
