James and phat yes I've had Stripes food. Glad you enjoy it. It's mediocre in my opinion.

The burger quality at Stripes has gone down a bit recently.

I ate there twice a couple of weeks ago, and the burgers were great. Juan and crew do an excellent job. Plus, you couldn't meet a better bunch of people than the ones I know there.

Zoning change to redo parking spaces at the old S&W has been recommended for approval by committee. If approved, construction is planned for December or January. I guess it's possible the parking lots could be redone without a Pappas restaurant being built. They own other restaurant properties, so there's that.

Parking will definitely have to be redone for a retention pond, which 1600 University lacked.

You're right. Flooding was the issue cited.

They built it on a retention pond. Poor design by S&W to begin with. Half the building is suspended above the basin. Pappa's inherited a craphole with that purchase. Location is great, environmental is turrble.

The whole site will be re-done. No one is putting a restaurant in a former hospital clinic building.

According to the Pappas' representative who was being interviewed they have firm plans to build a restaurant on the site if the rezoning is approved. Said there has never been any waver in their intent to locate there and the "delays" have simply been a result of the corporation's desire to fill some "staffing needs" (whatever that means) and to complete some other restaurant projects that have been in the works.

There was even mention of matching the landscaping scheme of Cheddar's and Fish Daddy's to blend into the area.

Pretty sure they don't get that detailed in their public discussions if they don't actually plan to build. Still interested to know exactly WHAT restaurant will locate there . . . originally heard Pappadeaux, but maybe I've missed an update that confirms that.

Would be nice. We'll see. Until then I guess we'll make do with Razoo's & Swamp Tail's.

Surprised Greg D hasn't FTR'd the half completed water tower on Arrington to service our newest neighbors in Indian Lakes.

I saw a sign going up for a new donut store, Master Donuts, at the corner of Southwest Pkwy and Dartmouth (where Casa Rodriguez Express was).

SIAP, but Brazos Moving and Storage is no longer locally owned and operated. The new owners are Morningstar Storage.

I got a letter from BM&S saying that if I renewed my lease before its expiration (tomorrow) that my rate would be locked in for whatever term I prepaid.

Went to Morningstar to take care of that and she was annoyed about the letters that BM&S had sent out, told me their lease is month to month, so she would honor that rate until the 1st, since I expire tomorrow, then effective the first, my new rate (their new rate) is what would take effect.

It's only an additional $15 a month. Just bugs me tho.

Rough Draught at Northgate is having their Grand Opening around 5ish today. Supposed to go with a group from work.

Grand opening started 11 minutes ago. 30 beers from Texas on draft, ~80 whiskeys, and a badazz interior (especially for Northgate). Last Friday and Saturday was a soft opening that seemed to go well. Hope it's a hit!

Good luck to them! The GM (owner?) was a really likable guy. Hope that location does them better than the previous businesses.

Here now and digging it. Great addition! All Texas beer list, and the prices are good. The acoustics in the back room make conversation a tad tough.

We went to Razoo's soft opening last night. The interior is nicely remodeled from the old Boston's. Food was very good. We tried the Cajun shrimp pasta, blackened catfish, and for desert their bread pudding.

The place was packed and service was a little slow, but it was a soft opening and the food was free. The manager came by and checked on us. Everybody was friendly. We'll probably try it again sometime next week and sample more of their menu.
