Are you on mobile or PC? If mobile, make sure you select "copy post link" and just paste it in the message. I clicked on your link and did exactly that from my phone.

Well, finally had a capture. Probably last night, but I didn't find the little guy until this afternoon.

Little bitty copperhead, born within in the last month or so I would guess. Never struck, and wasn't very aggressive. Was very wary. I put him out on a bit of my drive for photos to showcase his camouflage and his neon green tail. Love how they keep their head angled up all the time.

That's fascinating. Is that a juvenile copperhead?

How far away do you relocate them?

A couple hundred yards from the house. If they basically go in a random general direction, there is only a small percent chance they wind up back at my house, and even if they do, I pretty much have it snake proof now. The issue is really there is a relatively high concentration of copperheads in general because the environment is fairly ideal for them, so random snakes wandering by are much more likely than any repeat visitor.

MouthBq lives on the road that inspired the famous Steve Earle song, "Copperhead Road"

There is a Pretty good chance if he is posting a picture it is a copperhead, although he has posted some rat snakes and maybe a coral snake or something else before.

Thanks for sharing as always, Mouth!

When it rains, it pours. Found this little guy coiled up in my garage. About the same size as the last one, but different color variation slightly. Also mild mannered, as copperheads go. He was relocated also, but got a few pictures.

Great post, pics and video.

I can't get past the part where you knowingly drove the truck with a snake almost certainly inside.

My wife was working this weekend and wanted me to bring lunch so I thought "I have to drive it sometime", so I took the truck being sure to look frequently around the truck while I was driving. Nothing.

Damnit! Saw slender tail and thought I might have actually gotten it right.

Not sure where the slender tail thing started but it is not a good identifier

I have a jacked up brain (dammit cancer!)...but could have sworn people talked about that for one of the venomous snakes on these threads. I won't pay attention to that one anymore though.

Nice. The landowner didn't kill it. He thought it to be non-venomous. I'm glad to hear he was correct.

I've seen it here and Facebook forums so it's definitely out there as an identified. Really don't like it because lots of snakes lose their tail tips, and water snakes seemingly at a much higher ratio than other snakes (maybe crawfish or predatory fish when the snakes are young?)

Welcome to the glory that is the annual TexAgs Snake thread, and with a heck of an entry.

I appreciate any tips you provide. I was a "kill every snake I see" type person until I saw information from you and a couple other posters on this thread a few years ago.

I was the same way and changed for the same reason. I haven't quite graduated to relocating venomous snakes yet, though. I still prefer the .410/whatever long and sharp instrument I have option. Sorry, 12f mane. I'll work on it.

Yeah, the venomous ones meet an untimely death by the Judge pistol if they're within 100 yards of my kids.

Completely agree. I'm working with a snake charmer, but I'd like a Judge. You get style points, my friend. It's doubtless several posters will disapprove of our conversation regarding personal .410 preferences for killing venomous snakes. Emphasis on venomous, guys.
