Funny story - at my current hospital employer, they once (in the 80s) had a young man steal a Gaboon Viper from the zoo and manage to get bit as he carried it around

Luckily a cop was able to secure it from the public bus he was riding when he got bit and dropped the bag. They literally had to fly in anti-venom for it from all over the US and Europe to help the kid recover

File that under "you can't make this **** up"

I wish it was outdoors related! I am in O&G sales... I have been a snake nerd since I was a little kid and wanted to catch snakes instead of shooting them like my grandfather wanted me too (I shot plenty of turtles/squirrels/and other small game). It only intensified when my mom refused to let me have pet snakes as a kid and I had to go out and catch them, if I wanted to have a "pet" for the day. She was never happy when I was sitting in the driveway with a 5 gallon bucket and a smirk on my face as she pulled in... she knew what I had to show her and she hates snakes.

Long story short, I'm just a snake nerd but nothing like Badace or 12fmane or zooguy. They really know their snake species. I just like catching them and you need to know what it is before you catch it.

You're in O&G? May I PM you to get your opinion of some companies in that industry that I trade? I'm looking at some positions for my son's college account.

I started following this thread last year and have learned so much. I'm deathly afraid of snakes but I no longer kill every snake I see because of this thread. Thanks to all that share their knowledge on this thread.

My Sunday was eventful around the house. Kids were so excited to rescue a box turtle from the road. They played with it most of the day, little girl was convinced she could get it to eat a blackberry. No dice.



I went back to clearing some small brush and the kids came running, with tears, yelling that a venomous snake was headed to eat their new pet. I stopped what I was doing, rolled my eyes thinking it was make believe, and went with them to investigate. Well.....



This is the third coral I've seen around our house in the 7 years we have lived here. Dispatched the first two because the kids were toddlers. Relocated this one to a wooded creek 75 yards from the house.
