That sucks. Sorry to hear. But... finally, someone has beaten out Log's toe story for fluke pre-hunt injury.

No kidding.

Nothing fancy... light and compact

The tripod is a benro slim carbon fiber (pretty cheap, relatively speaking) based off rokslide suggestions.

I'm en route to Colorado right now!

Sadly it's for a conference in downtown Denver. But I'll be able to see the far blue mountains.

Think I'm having issues with my rest. Last week had arrows hitting the rest and tore up the felt. Replaced felt, shot great for 2.5 range trips, same issue this morning half way thru shooting the course....

QAD ultrarest if anyone has ideas. Taking it to the shop at lunch. Too close to the season for this crap

I was having contact issues, so we removed the felt and just put shrink wrap on the upper arm. That fixed the clearance issue.

Thanks! I had shrink wrap on the forks holding a small felt patch at the bottom in place. Ripped the damn shrink wrap off this morning once the problem started. Maybe I'll try running no felt.

Also in the process of the arrows pulling off the shrink wrap i noticed that the clearance to the top bar was close. Mainly noticed this as the shrink wrap started interfering.

If you get rid of the felt put some oil or something on the launcher. Sometimes when you draw back, the arrow will scrape on the bare launcher and make a loud noise that elk don't seem to like.

Ah, gotcha.

My contact was on the top captive bar, not on the fork of the rest. It was just a clearance issue.

Seems like if you're hitting the forks then something might be off in the timing.

klymit sleeping bags

Anyone have experience with this bag on camofire? I don't really need a high-performance bag this year for antelope but if I'm going to go ahead and buy a bag would like to be able to use it on backpack hunts in the future...

Thanks for all the input on the rest.

No specific experience on Klymit sleeping bags, but I will say I love their sleeping pads and they make good stuff for a reasonable price.

Dang the only time I've had to shoot my bow the last few days is in a 30mph wind. It is a beatdown.

Welcome to Kansas every day.

Per my Google sheets I'm now 932 arrows downrange in the last 6 weeks after I reset the timing of my cams. I built a new, larger target this past weekend so I can begin to stretch out. To date everything has been 65 yards and under. That'll change when I get back from Denver.

Camofire has 1/4 Zip 230 weight merino hoodies for $55. Black Ovis brand.

GDit, why don't they just steal money straight from my bank account?

EDIT:. That is a link to the product that is on camofire, not the camofire link itself.

Looking at that deal right now. Frustrating because I ordered the merino 1/4 zip in charcoal color last week but now this week they have it in the new "Kodiak" color that I like better and I think I need that too.

Have you received yours from last week yet? I haven't seen the Ovis version in person, but I'm expecting it to be like Core4s version.

I also just ordered 3 of them...

How do y'all like the hoodie on a base layer? I've never gone this route. Is it annoying when you don't need a hoodie?

I don't even notice it when it's off, especially a merino layer because it's very thin. You can easily tuck it onto your out layer without feeling like a hunchback. I love it personally because it's always easy to flip up/flip down if I stop and it's chilly.

Edit: I have some puffys with hoods as well and that is obviously more noticeable. I still tuck it in to keep pine needles, etc. out of the hood, but it can feel like a bump under your backpack, etc. Still not a big deal to me.

I briefly went crazy adding stuff to cart. Luckily came to my senses before pressing order. Still got quite a bit of them for hunting/skiing layers. Dang good deal.

Have any of used their merino before?

How would you compare it to Kuiu or FirstLite?

I have their 50/50 blend boxer briefs which I like, however they are initially tight around the thighs.

I ordered the t-shirt, its a blend as well, but I have enough long sleeve merino.

I have not, that is why I asked the same question earlier. I'll be sure and give a review when I receive them.

So my black ovis merino (charcoal color) that I ordered off camofire last week showed up today. I know you asked about fit earlier. I'm 6'2" 220, normally wear large tee shirts and collared shirts and XL for jackets and sweaters etc. I ordered the merino 1/4 zip top and the merino crew long sleeve, both in large. Obviously haven't used them in the field yet but out of the box they seem to fit perfect. I was hoping to be able to use them both as base layers interchangeably as well as layer them on top of each other depending on the situation and, at least based on walking around the house tonight with all combinations they should be able to do just that. Pretty true to size, I would order exactly the size you normally wear.

I still really like that new kodiak color they released today, trying to figure out if I should try and return these and get the same thing in kodiak. As if the animals can Tell a difference between charcoal and kodiak.

1) order Kodiak as well, not instead of.

2) Quality seems good?

Seams and stitching seem legit, doesn't have a cheap feel to it at all. Obviously can't say for sure as modeling for my toddler in the living room isn't the same as crawling through sage brush or climbing up a rock face.
