Lots of smart people on this thread who know a lot.

Someone answer me:

What is going to be the effect on the common American of Iran blowing up the oil and gas infrastructure of the ME?

Global commodity markets are all interconnected. If Japan can't buy oil from Saudi Arabia anymore they will buy from the US. If we ban exports from Japan it will only make a bigger disaster for arguably our closest ally, will create incredible economic inefficiencies in the market (which all have costs), and this is all before we discuss how interconnected our economy is with Japan and the consequences to American businesses if Japan's economy starts to go into economic shock. Now add the same story with South Korea, Taiwan, UK, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Italy, Greece, etc. Sure, America is much better hedged as an economy to the initial shock. But the following economic consequences will be awful, and what about our political capital. We have long ago already become an unreliable partner to all of the countries we are the most economically interconnected with. Now we're just straight up ****ing them over.

Everyone is clowning this guy but he's not wrong. The last of the crude that was able to get out of the strait of arriving in Asia now. Once the deliveries stop, Asia is in serious trouble. Jet fuel prices are already through the roof, diesel will be following. Asian buyers now pulling LNG away from Europe to fill in for Qatari LNG, resulting in European LNG skyrocketing. The crude trading desk at my company (a major) is sounding every alarm possible for how serious of an event this is about to be when the crude deliveries stop here shortly.

Kent was under investigation prior to his resignation for leaking classified information. Going the media route likely appealed strongly vs. getting indicted/convicted for this. Whatever, I frankly don't give a crap what Kent has to say, he seems like a weasel/liar to me.

A good piece in the Brussels Signal about Europe's moral quagmire:
Quote:

It appears that mere envy at the relaunch of America under Trump, with accelerating economic growth, collapsing crime rates, the end of illegal immigration, the debunking of green extremism, and the shaping up of the American military into an instrument of extraordinary power and precision, has driven much of Europe into the quagmire of moral relativism between their American benefactor and the evil terrorist state of Islamist Iran. One would have expected mere opportunism to produce better judgment than that.

The Americans will open the Hormuz Strait but they will shut it to Iran, including the large oil shipments to China, until the government of Iran is defanged and re-oriented. In those circumstances, where the United States had enabled the return of free movement of oil and its principal allies had deserted it, failed even token support of the American victory, who would blame the United States for imposing its own charges on shipments of oil that it had made possible to its catatonic allies? It is almost inconceivable that the Western Europeans and Canadians do not realise that the only chance of bringing peace to the Middle East is to destroy those regimes and terrorist movements that will be endlessly violent in their psychotic intolerance of the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state.

Though the repugnance of the brutal Russian dictatorship and the failure of Russia ever to enjoy one day of good government by Western standards militates against this outcome, the United States could make a more productive alliance with Russia than it now enjoys with most of the NATO countries who chiefly owe their freedom over the last 85 years to the Americans. Western Europe is profoundly afflicted by a political and sociological death wish. The United States will not save them from that; only they can.

Pretty wild.

Danes continue to hold this Iranian-owned cargo ship which had left St Petersburg.

Quote:

The United States sanctioned the ship in July 2025 as part of a network including more than 50 vessels, it said, which were part of the vast shipping empire controlled by Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Ali Shamkhani, a top political advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran. The father was reportedly killed along with the Supreme Leader last month at the start of hostilities with Iran. The U.S. asserted last year that the fleet of ships controlled by Hossein was transporting oil and petroleum products from Iran and Russia, as well as other cargo, to buyers around the world, generating tens of billions of dollars in profit.

Kind of weird to hold it this long.

I get the feeling the Iranian terror regime knows they're toast. They can't surrender given the Iranian people will hang them. So they want to bring about their last function, in their minds, to destabilize the world with an all out effort, with whatever is left to lay waste to oil/gas production and distribution in the PG region. In the hope of severely damaging the global economy, thus its political stability.

And maybe even try to bring China into the conflict. China Oil imports from the ME:
Saudi Arabia: Ranked second after Russia, supplying about 14% of China's imports, with strong long-term trade partnerships and reliable supply.
  • Iran: A significant supplier, contributing 11% of imports in 2024, despite international sanctions. Some crude may be rebranded or laundered through third countries like Malaysia to circumvent restrictions.
  • Iraq: Accounts for around 10% of imports, with consistent deliveries from the Middle East.
What would the US have done before fracking made the US near energy independent and this happened to us?

China has been very quite so much so it spooks me. No way can they be taking this new turn on blasting global energy infrastructure lightly. This is a dangerous and very destabilizing turn of events.

I'll take the guy's word who has served in 11 combat tours, mostly against Iran and their proxies, killing and detaining many and had access to the highest levels of intelligence, over posters who use and post bot propaganda and the career self-serving bureaucrats who have never served a day in their life.

How much money did he make from resigning? He definitely lost out on some cushy defense contractor job in the private sector that all these scumbags in the government long for.

When people who don't understand the pace of actual geopolitical events start to hyperventilate when things don't resolve in half an hour, they have to be told to calm down by people who do understand. HTH.

If the rumors are true, he was about to get fired and potentially worse. He saw the anti Israel grift opportunity and jumped at it, assuming he'll have his own podcast/Substack soon and will start hocking subscriptions from grouper losers like the rest of these pos's. If he's lucky he might get some of Tucker's Qatari cash too.

Not much more complicated than that. Congrats on siding with a Bernie bro I guess.

That's not what I said at all. We're roughly 3 weeks into an extremely complicated operation with lots of bad actors on the playing field. Situations develop and get resolved almost faster than the news cycle can report them. You watch the instant news just looking for the bad stuff hoping to condemn Trump, when you have no idea how this will ultimately play out. We may yet achieve exactly what we intended and walk away with a great victory. Sad thing is that guys like you will be disappointed if we do.

My $500 of BTC to your $5000 of BTC?

No need to escrow. We can go with the Aggie Code of Honor.

What are the parameters?

That amount is fine, but in USD or silver. $500 to $5000, and I'd prefer to escrow. You're an account with no Ag Tag.

The parameters are I'm betting bibi is alive and well. You're wagering he's dead right?

Kinda surprised Staph hasn't deleted this yet......

I've been trolling this board since the Two Jokers thread over in the Zoo. Lost that Ag Tag with a perma ban several socks ago.

I'm good for it as I'm sure you are.

How's this for a proposal? $500 to $5000 with end date of April 16, 2026 (four weeks from today).

  • Proof of life for Bibi to an acceptable level (i.e. Bibi in public in daylight on international media (RT, Al Jazeera, or some off brand India news channel, no Fox, no CNN) / Shia Labeouf Capture the flag Internet Autist level confirmation via Twitter or other social media)
  • Can't just be the Goyslop tic-toks like the five they've thrown out for the last couple days.
  • Official confirmation of death via government sources works too
If I lose, I send you cash ($500) or money order. I prefer BTC because everyone can verify the payment via blockchain.

If you lose, you send or hand deliver cash ($5000) to Texags Staph mods in College Station. I don't need. the money and whatever Billy is paying them, it's not enough to deal with our dumbasses on a daily basis.

Staph, make sure Billy gets his cut!

There it is.......an off ramp for Trump to take.

He can come out tonight and declare this needs to deescalate before it gets out of hand, throw Israeli under the global bus, and get out of this with just a mild to rough recession heading into the mid-terms.

Does he have the balls to do it? Let's wait and see.

Finland; maybe we will help (to secure the oil/gas shipments they themselves need desperately) in Strait of Hormuz, in exchange for more for Kiev.
Quote:

Finland's President Alexander Stubb has expressed support for a strategic proposal in which European countries would assist the United States in securing the Strait of Hormuz, in exchange for increased American backing for Ukraine.
The Gaze informs about it, referring to Politico.
Speaking at a Q&A session at the Chatham House in London, Stubb described the idea as both practical and worth pursuing. The proposal centers on Europe contributing military resources to help safeguard one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, while Washington would, in return, step up its support for Kyiv amid ongoing peace efforts.
"I think it's a really good idea," Stubb said. "I have no illusions about who can convince President Trump on anything. If I get one idea out of 10 in Ukraine, I think it's good."

How about no?
