Anyone that paid an ounce of attention to details last summer knew we didn't entirely destroy their nuclear program. That Trump overstated its success is the absolute norm for a politician, much less a politician like Trump.

We did not destroy their uranium stores they had already enriched, which is enough to develop 10+ nuclear bombs after further enrichment. That the difficulty in developing a nuclear bomb is primarily in the enrichment of the uranium without severe consequences (sanctions), and that secondarily to that its developing an ICBM capable of hitting their desired target.

In the last month Iran had been digging out the site of, presumably, their uranium stores to try to retrieve the previously enriched uranium. The U.S. wanted them to hand it over. They declined by saying they will not give that which the U.S. cannot retrieve militarily.

Over the last several years Iran has been stockpiling missiles, stockpiling drones, buying anti-aircraft technology from China, basically trying to build a fortress around their pursuit of nuclear weapons so that when they develop them they instantly become a global power due to the geography of their country and the unique power provided by a nuclear weapon. In the interim period they build up a capacity to be an entire ass nuisance if they ever get attacked, causing the disruptions they are doing right now.

If Iran has a nuclear weapon the current state of affairs is mild in terms of their capacity to disrupt.

So the question is do you continue to negotiate with individuals that have negotiated in bad faith in the past while they continue to build up an arsenal that will make it difficult to attack when it becomes apparent they have every intention of building a nuclear weapon, or do you destroy their weapon making capabilities today and potentially create the conditions for an overthrow of the government by destroying their capability to pay their IRGC/Basij/Military, causing enough death and havoc among that group to scare them into defections, and provide support to the people when they turn on their oppressors.

If that occurs their country is in so much chaos a weapon can't be made and you do a spec ops operation to secure the material already enriched, or ideally the overthrowing of the government is successful and the resulting rulers are submissive enough as to acquiesce to your demands so that they can return to full trade partners on global stage and provide their people some level of consistent prosperity growth they haven't had in a generation or more.

I don't know how the Iran war ends, but Trump now effectively has control of most of China's oil sources, other than Russia.

They also won, because their dictator ally in Venezuela was arrested. #MoreChinaWinning.

It's time for China to man-up and tell Iran to capitulate.

btw, the big story no one is talking about: China's ambitions to take back Taiwan have been set back by at least a generation.

This morning I read that now 'stranded' at sea Russian oil (shadow fleet) will be allowed to be purchased by 'anyone' for 30 days, not just India. This will drastically decrease the oil from Russia China is able to short term purchase at significant discounts.

Trump wants maximum leverage with Beijing imho when he visits next month. Several Chinese chemical companies already announced production cuts and more will shortly as energy costs there are going to continue to climb.

Also, the optics of Trump allowing the world to buy oil from Russia are not lost on anyone except the libs in America. At this point in time, Trump and America control the oil for a majority of the world.

The Chinese can reverse engineer and steal a of tech, but they have no substitute for oil.

Great point.

NO ONE is talking about the fact that Israel has bases now in SOMALILAND which is literally right there across from Yemen blocking the Red Sea and entrance to Arabian Sea.

the USA is able to shut off China from the Panama Canal, the Suez Canal, and the Straits of Hormuz.

good luck conquering Taiwan with no oil.

This was, along with Venz, was the goal since China was trying to box in the US regarding rare-earths. I think a lot of whats going on today is DIRECTLY related to the US vs China control of the rest of the 21st Century.

Its like Trump telling China, if you don't back off on your effort to monopolize rare-earths we will give your oil markets/supply hell.

The real outrage is the NYT, Politico and the other usual suspects using this data to pimp the "anti-war" "sentiment" in the 'US". These people are absolutely traitors to this country and have been for decades.

No, the real outrage is those pretending to be conservative or on the right doing so.

This kind of behavior is expected from the left.

Yep this new weird Tucker/Candis/Fuentes "right" is like an experiment gone bad. Reminds me of the sick crap we saw in the 1930's across the pond. This world gets more jacked up by the day.

Someone explain to me how Trump took this action without having the ability to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

From NYT:

Quote:

It makes sense for Iran to strangle global shipping and detonate the oil markets. That way, Trump could face pressure to stop the war. Khamenei has already vowed to keep blocking the strait.

And you won't currently find American military superiority there. Chris Wright, the U.S. energy secretary, told CNBC yesterday that it would be some time before the Navy would be in a position to escort oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. "We're simply not ready," he said. "All of our military assets right now are focused on destroying Iran's offensive capabilities."

Interior this week announced $47 million in bids from a second Gulf of Mexico lease sale. It has issued 6,000 permits for oil and gas leasing in the past year alonemore than the Biden administration did in four years.

Good article, she only got one thing wrong.

Well, the last place I would look for credible analyses of absolutely anything Trump has done/planned would be the NYT.

What we are actually focusing on right now:

Traffic thru the strait will re-open substantially once escorts are available in a week or so. I think Maersk set the 21st as their tentative date.

I can guarantee that Iran blocking the Strait of Hormuz is one of the topmost scenarios we planned for.

Its predictable as the sun rising in the east. NBC devotes a nightly segment to it, maybe 5 minutes and almost all of the segment is about what Iran is doing firing missiles and destruction they are causing, statements from Iran flexing (read: lying) about their capabilities and accomplishments and threats, and of course a lot of coverage on the school that was destroyed. Very little on the key military and leadership targets taken out by our precision striking and US Military successes over there.

Its one of the most anti-American things I've seen that our own US media can't support our military and has to make it seem like they are in a defeat posture just because a Republican and specifically Trump is in charge.

From Karoline Leavitt this morning:

"this story is 100% FAKE NEWS.

CNN decided to run this garbage based on three anonymous "sources familiar with discussions."

This is despite the fact that myself, the Secretary of War, the Secretary of State, and multiple lawmakers (who were actually present for the recent classified briefing) have directly disputed this false reporting.

THE TRUTH: The Pentagon has been planning for Iran's desperate and reckless closure of the Strait of Hormuz for DECADES, and it has been part of the Trump Administration's planning well before Operation Epic Fury was ever launched.

The idea that Chairman Cain and Secretary Hegseth weren't prepared for this possibility is PREPOSTEROUS. The President was fully briefed on it, and a goal of the Operation itself, to annihilate the terrorist Iranian regime's navy, missiles, drone production infrastructure, and other threat capabilities is quite literally intended to deprive them of their ability to close the Strait.

President Trump will not allow rogue Iranian terrorists to stop the freedom of navigation and the free flow of energy.

Wiping out these terrorists who indiscriminately target civilians and attempt to hold the global economy hostage is part of the ongoing noble U.S. mission.

The Fake News is working overtime to discredit President Trump, his Administration, and our U.S. Military, all of whom are working 24/7 to eliminate the threat of the Iranian regime.

It's a complete disgrace to witness this from the media, and we will keep fighting back against it."

Lmao what? Cruz got 6 million votes in 2024. The bigger question would be who actually doesn't support Cruz - outside of democrats obviously. Although at this point that might as well be a distinction without a difference.

It's not Cruz or Israel's fault that Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah etc have continuously attacked any non-Muslim's in the Middle East.
