This thread may not age well…..but I thought I would start one to get some guesses out on the table to see who thinks the govt will/will not shut down and for how long a shutdown might last?

My guess.

Reason: The government will shut down because the democrats will not allow for cuts to Affordable Care Act
And I am guessing,

Duration: I will have approx. 3 weeks off with pay.

There is a thread on it. Beats me. They don't realize there are Dems that don't like her, that would even defend Pelosi and Schumer and do, but not her - they are really doing the ******* thing to the extreme here.

The GOP has the power to end the filibuster now and push through everything it wants. It should do that because the Dems already showed their cards in trying to get rid of it when they had a slight majority.

The main issue is we don't have enough of a majority in the house due to extreme Dem gerrymandering and court decisions that re-zoned districts to give Dems extra seats (like here in Bama). The other issue is RINO's like Murkowski and Collins.

The Dem shutdown is coming without a doubt. Schmucker took too much heat last time for voting against cloture and allowing the BBB to pass. He is worried about losing his seat to a communist like AOC.

The shutdown will happen but I would imagine that the Republicans will find a way to screw it up. This should be an opportunity to get some reductions I the increase in spent. Note I did not say cuts. Spending cuts would require an economic catastrophe.

Actually 2 years so far (in theory organizations were operating on only their FY24 funding level which was signed into law around March 2024 or so)

Remember that bipartisan and compromise mean "do everything we say or else" to the Dems.

They are indeed unserious about working together. So Rs must give nothing.

Its another reason why Massie and Rand and the like need to swallow hard and play along. Any dissent from the R side results in billions more in spending. Make it stop.
