Is there no route around the big cities period though? If it was me, I wouldn't be caught within 30 miles of an urban center if I could prevent it. I'm imagining a group like Joel and Ellie trying to cross through Dallas. Dallas and Fort Worth downtowns could both be completely avoided with a little maneuvering around. Why not the same for KC? Just seems like going into any urban downtown is just asking for trouble, like we saw.

I thought (could be wrong) that he was originally trying to just stay on what amounts to a loop around the outside of the town, but it was blocked off by the semi barricade. So then he was thought he could just hop on an exit and detour around the barricade. Somehow Palpatine returned, and they ended up lost downtown.

What? Joel never saw her stab anyone. She was completely alone in the basement with the zombie.
They've alluded to Ellie's past history twice now, I think they are setting up that incident at the mall. We'll undoubtedly get that flashback soon enough.

I don't know if Kathleen will end up being a realistic choice for her role as yet, because we don't know enough about her or her backstory. But whether her role is "realistic" is definitely relevant and an important factor in the story.

Totally agree with this. For me, it's not having a woman in the role. It's the woman they chose. I assume the opposite. That it will be great casting for what they want to do, it's just that what they want to do will be eyerolling.

There's a pretty easy way to comprehend how someone in her position could become the leader of a revolutionary force. All these strong, strapping men? Its been 10 years since the fall and who knows how long they battled FEDRA at the QZs. Whose to say she was the first leader? if anything, the smart play is to let the cavalier people fight the early, tough battles and take over in a power vacuum. Not to mention, there are plenty of examples of women leading a revolutionary force, in both battle or symbolism.

If the woman holds symbolic value, then I agree. If she was the daughter of the previous leader to the rebellion who everyone basically worshipped, then I can see how that adoration could be inherited.

Having recently driven through downtown KC. I get using it as a set in a post-apocalyptic world. It doesn't feel like a stretch.
