Still don't understand why people stopped watching TWD because "it was too gruesome". I'd imagine that this show will get pretty gruesome at some point. Could turn folks away…

I've never heard too gruesome as a reason. I bailed because of the writing. The show just got a bit boring and tedious.

Watched ep 2 last night. Not a big gamer but I've played TLOU a few times (nowhere near completing the game) at my brother's. Definitely found the game gripping with the storyline. And this is already panning out to be one of my favorite shows of all time. Love a good post-apocalyptic doomsday thriller.

I was bummed to see Tess go out so early on, but I presume that's how it plays out in the game. That kiss of death was so well done and absolutely horrifying. Also got some real Jurassic Park vibes from the scene in the museum.

Excited to see the story unfold as they travel across the USA.

Non-stop violent cruelty is not creative and gets boring.

Among other things.

Nothing in TLOU 2 was surprising.

Full transparency: I am a non-gamer who knows SOME things about the game, but not a lot. I've been reading both threads and will continue to do so. (The other thread has been good with spoiler tags.)

But I will stop posting in this thread if you guys are dead set on people knowing absolutely zero about the games in here.

I just watched the first two episodes and really enjoying it so far. Ellie is a very unlikable character at this point though IMO.

She's teenager. They're all naturally unlikeable.

I watch plenty of shows with teenage characters who are likable, but Ellie is not one of them.

Just don't talk about mexico as we, or post comparison contrasts, and/or "guesses" of the plot. Just talk about what you saw on screen.

It's not that hard.

Never had any interest in TWD or any of its siblings.

Only started this show because it was recommended to me by someone that knows my tastes and thought I would like it. The zombies aren't bothering me too much.

Viewership up 22% from episode 1 to 2. That's massive.

If it keeps going this way it feels like this might be reaching into GoT level popularity.

Yep. Word of mouth from people who don't typically watch zombie shows will drive it higher.

I think the last zombie thing I watched was night of the comet in the 1980s.

And I'm digging this.
Really? No Walking Dead? World war Z? Resident Evil? Zombieland?

Like I said, i'm not a gamer but I happen to have played TLOU before. If people are going to get all up in arms over comparisons of show scenes to game scenes (without spoilers for future episodes) then they probably should just stay away from the thread entirely.

What is the intent of the non-gamer thread?

From the op: "Discussion of SHOW EVENTS ONLY and NO GAME TALK WHATSOEVER. No hinting, no alluding, and no game spoilers behind spoiler tags. Basically, for this thread, pretend the games don't exist."

Seems like a fair request for one thread.

One problem with shows that are based on a widely popular title is we can't do any speculation because if it is right then you get blamed for spoiling.

I've never played the game and have a guess on a potential ending, but don't want to put it just in case it's is close to being correct and people get mad.

Can you get infected by getting scratched or is it the standard zombie bite that does it? I don't remember seeing Tess getting bit but maybe I missed it.

I agree with a poster earlier who said that if they keep doing flashbacks to the initial outbreak then that would be awesome.

I haven't listened to this one yet, but HBO podcasts typically are excellent and don't have spoilers. I'd assume it is the case here too.

There is no "don't post on both threads" rule. That's just dumb. Just don't discuss spoilers here. Simple enough. Since the creation of this thread, they aren't bothering with spoiler tags as much on the other, so be aware. (Haven't played the game)

This. For what it's worth, I never intended there to be segregation between the gamers and non-gamers themselves. Only the *discussion* was meant to segregated. If you're a gamer and you're posting here, it's simple... just don't talk about the games in any way, shape, or form, and don't give any guesses/prediction/speculations whatsoever. We can all see if you've been posting in the gamer thread, so if you break that "rule" here we'll flag the hell out of your post until staff does something about it/you.

Why would we want to read comparisons to the game and show?

I mean it doesn't spoil anything per se but isn't there a thread for those that would care?

i really liked episode 2 also

i never played and dont want to see any spoilers of any kind in this thread

i guess spoilers of episodes out at least what, a week, are ok? i dont know the etiquette there...but my rule will be no spoilers

i did some research on zombie ant fungus and that is some creepy ***** basically, fungus can 'behave' and 'remember' and 'react'

and also actually can control tropical ants. as in, force them to climb up a tree, grab on at exactly the right height to disburse the most spores, near an active ant trail, then die and hang on until the fungus grows over the ant and then disburses to infect the most ants.

and actually, ants have thought of all kinds of ways to deal with that.

pretty damned creepy all around.

You can post about anything that has already aired.

At this point no spoiler is needed for Ep1 and Ep2.

Anything you read ahead of or get to see it early, or hear in a podcast, etc that hasn't aired needs a spoiler tag.

Honestly you need to ban any sort of "guesses" about what's going to happen later in the season. There's a pretty good chance those are people who've played the game or watched videos on it and are just trying to look really smart by "guessing" what's going to happen next.

There hasn't been a single spoiler posted on this thread.

The trailer that has been playing on national media right now for a game that's now 10 years old gives way more "spoilers" than anything that has been said on this thread.

Someone just make another thread for the cavemen/women who are champing at the bit to call anything someone says a spoiler and be done with it.
or, those who have played the game, just post in the other thread. i don't see why that's so hard. you can still read this one. post your heart out on the other thread.

i don't know if anything has been spoiled at this point, but it will eventually...and it might not even be on purpose. someone reading forgets what thread they are on and posts something .

Im just saying that mere allusions to the game are nothing to get up in arms about, unless of course there's a spoiler. Apparently some scenes in the show are near-verbatim to the game, which I think is cool.

Don't worry, I haven't played near enough of the game to spoil anything. My experience is very limited. I'll post here because I dont want to see any game-related spoilers.

There should not even be spoiler tags on this thread. The other thread basically had two completely different conversations going on. One conversation was completely spoiler tagged, and then there were those of us who don't know the story.

This thread was created for those of us who just want the best chance not to be spoiled.

It has always been standard procedures on the ET board that the moment something is aired during an active series, it is game to talk about. For those reasons, I wouldn't check this thread until being up to date on episodes.

I personally try to avoid even previews for future episodes because I like going in blind, but that is basically an impossible ask.

Just listened to both podcast episodes. Extremely well done. The 2 showrunners (both featured in the Behind the Episode) moderated by another guy who happened to play Joel in "another medium".

No spoilers, but tons of inside baseball talk of the choices they made. Really good stuff.
