So Rick's entire contribution to the battle was to give a whole bunch of guns to the trash people to broker an alliance which the trash people promptly broke. During the battle, when Sasha distracted everyone, all of Rick's people took the opportunity to attack their captors, while Rick remained held helplessly at gunpoint by the trash queen, until she shot him. Carl, of all people, took out two of his captors when Sasha broke out.

And later, when Negan was about to kill Carl, Rick doesn't even say a word to Carl. Judith gets passed around like a white elephant gift.

Crappy leader. Crappy dad. Rick, what would you say that you do here, exactly?

All Rick is good for now is talk, anyone that follows him is as big if a loser as he is. I would rather get behind Maggie or Carol. Daryl hasn't done jack **** in forever as well.

I think at this point I'd be team Negan. He really has **** together. To be fair, they're given a chance to comply and work for/with Negan and the Saviors. Unfortunately someone decides to resist and ends Luciled. Eugene got a good bargain.
The problem with this is that if you aren't actually accepted to part of his cadre at the main base, you have to spend double your time scavenging for resources... for yourself and for Negan.
And if you are part of Negan, there are a ton of rules you have to follow and you could be in violation of them based on the capriciousness of Negan and thrown into a fire (or have someone make a false accusation against you).

Not sure why the Sanctuary, the Kingdom and Alexandria just don't pack up and move outside the range of Negan... that's what I would do if I were in that position. Why fight? Negan's group is relying on the slavery of those three groups.

You essentially put him out business by moving 200-300 miles in some other direction.

Being team Negan means one little perceived slip and you're taking an iron to the face or Lucille to the temple. Not for me.

I was going to make a similar genghis kahn reference that someone did previously. Ignoring the fact this show is about zombies, I don't think it's realistic to expect Negan to have lived this long. His penchant for leaving enemies alive to torment them and make them subserviant would have gotten him killed a long time ago.

I've thought about moving as well, but with the numbers and transportation that team Negan has, I do think there is a high risk of them tracking you down and slaughtering you before you get out of reach. Slipping off in small numbers might help, but I think the logistics of trying to move a group of much size at all would lead to problemos. That said, I think trying to flee is a better option than trying to kill all of those mofos or live in slavery.

I don't get the whole "I am Negan" Cult thing. Why does Rick think the Saviors will stick together and keep fighting once Negan is killed? He says after Negan is gone they will have to battle each outpost 1 at a time. I would imagine it would be like Iraq when Saddam was hanged, the whole group would break apart in warring factions and cease to exist as one fighting force.

It looks to me like the writers are leaving an opening for storylines when Negan is gone.

I wonder what Rich and co strategy will be? The Kingdom only brought a few soldiers to the fight and is the only settlement capable of fending off an attack. Will Alexandria and the Hill Top be abandoned? Maybe send the Hill Top soldiers and civilians to the Kingdom while Rick and co go guerilla Viet Cong style?

Can someone explain to me why the trash people talk the way they do? I am assuming they are from the US and didn't speak like that before the zombies so why the change? Do they all talk like idiots? Why hasn't Rick asked them why they talk the way they do? Wouldn't he find that really odd?

So many questions...has the director ever answered any of these questions?
The trash people annoy me the more I think about them. At this point in the story, we're what....3 or 3.5 years from the outbreak? But somehow, in that short period of time, we've got this group that's decided to live in a landfill, has all adopted the same style of dress, has changed their language, and apparently their culture has changed to the point that they don't understand why it would be strange/offensive to tell someone they're going to sleep with their boyfriend. Its like they're aliens from Mars.
I'm sticking by my theory that they were all at a Star Trek/Sci Fi convention when things went down and that this is some giant cosplay opportunity for them.

They need to flee to Canada where everyone is friendly, but I'm sure the winters in Virginia are tough enough

the comic book writer obliviously didn't know the difference between a garbage collection/hauling company (drivers, mechanics, trucks) and a municipal solid waste landfill (a few big yellow-iron compactors/ bulldozers), or the usual distance between them (city vs suburban/rural), or the fact that there is probably very few "junkyards" in the world the size of most landfills. ...but yeah, there could have been a bunch of regular rear load garbage trucks dumping at the landfill/ junk yard instead of a transfer station at the time of the zombie apocalypse.

personally, i think the junk yard people are aliens and they should be the ones fighting the zombies... or maybe ... controlling them!

I keep coming back to this as a "...head of the snake..." scenario. I'd make every effort every time to take out Negan and Simon. I would have sacrificed snipers at the downed-trees roadblock to get them; I would have instructed someone at Alexandria to shoot them as soon as they showed their faces. I just don't see the Saviors functioning so well without the central leader.

I've said this before, but other than Abraham the lack of any one with any military training (being right outside of D.C. nonetheless) is astounding. No kind of planned ambushes, hell they have explosives. Set and IED or two or twenty. Instead we man the walls (which aren't even bullet proof) like the Alamo and wait for them to so we can have a discussion

This is the first time I'm actually considering being done with the show. I'm really just wanting it to end bc I want to see it through but it's gotten silly and campy. This season I didn't even watch live on Sunday. There are a couple of other shows I would watch on my DVR first. Pretty disappointing.

Yep, when I chose to watch Big Little Lies with my wife before watching the DVR of Walking Dead I knew it was over for me.

sundays this spring had new Homelands, new Black Sails, and new Walking Deads, all at the same time.... i typically watch WD last --later in the week... i'll still keep watching it next season though.. invested too much.

Big Little Lies is at least entertaining. Hot chicks, some pretty funny dialogue, and a mystery. I was looking forward to it much more than walking choad.

So, besides everyone being disappointed in the finale, I'm wondering where Gregory actually went after looking at the map. Negan made reference to a little birdie telling him Rick was up to something.. but was that Gregory or was it the trash people?

That does seem unsettled. I guess it could have been Gregory but to not show it, and then for Negan to not be ready for Maggie and that gang coming, seems like Gregory was not the little birdie.
CDub06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't think Gregory ever went. They showed him ask his man servant to prepare to drive him there, but that didn't happen before the finale.

"The little birdie" was clearly the trash people

I agree that the birdie was the trash people, but I think Gregory is on his way to meet Simon.

I'm still gonna watch it, but the good news is I'm no longer upset that I have to wait months for the next episode after the season finale.

Finally watched this steaming pile of garbage (no pun intended with Ms. Spock's cult).

- Neegan raises bat to kill core child character aaaaaaaaand!.....Tiger leaps over imminent threat and latches onto neck of bad guy bystander.

- Why was Sasha even IN a coffin? Why not just bound & gagged? Or in handcuffs sitting in the backseat? Only point seems to be that they wanted the cheesy Zombie Reveal - this is something an 11-year old would've come up with. Put her in a coffin! Oh oh oh! AND under a tarp! Like a magician!!

- Bullets flying yet King Zeke is still in full Medieval Times character spouting King Arthur lines while his people run by with banners like it's Game Of Thrones. Just awful.

Two serious questions:

- Where is Gregory? Did I miss it? Seems like last episode left with him headed to the Saviors compound, yet this episode has Neegan's group running back & forth with no mention of him.

- I thought Dwight told the group that he'd be coming back with a skeleton crew (no Neegan) and they could kill the skeleton crew. he'd radio back and say things are fine, then smuggle them inside the Sanctuary. So when Dwight showed up with Neegan and the entire gang, I figured this was evidence that Dwight had double-crossed our heroes (again). Yet at the end, he leaves the little figurine to basically say 'sorry, I didn't know about the trash people flipping, we still cool?'. What happened to Operation Dwight Smuggling?

I imagined him going all TO with the Sharpie while bullets are flying all around him and the tiger is rampaging on just the Saviors.

In 20 years we will be watching this season on Mystery Science 4K

What's sad is that I honestly don't know if these writers expect us to believe that Dwight just happens to carry the wooden soldiers that he makes with him on raids, or that he just snapped of a nearby tree branch and whittled one real quick during the battle. I could honestly see the writers asserting either scenario as plausible.

He probably knew when they were still at Negan's compound. He just wasn't able to warn them in time.

Just theatrics of whether she can walk out of it or be killed and buried in it - depending on Rick's decision.
