Regardless, you HAVE to take that chance IMO

Again, as I've said in my two previous posts, the new life Rick has accepted for himself and his people is not a life at all.

Honestly, he needs to get back to his roots. He needs to take Carl, Judith, and maybe Michone if she wants to come & and GTFO. It was better when Rick only felt responsible for his own family rather than a ton of other people.

Step 1 should have involved hiding a good chunk of the armory. Then you bide your time a bit to pull together a plan that is less likely to get your heads bashed in. seriouslu, if you ran at the first chance, they are going to chase and cut your ass down. That's gonna happen. I'm not talking about just accepting it. An effective retreat is going to take some thought and some work.

But running also means you just killed Daryl. And it's just unwise to get the best character iilled.

How do you know they were unwatched? That's a big assumption. Neegan could have a spy in town.
I believe Neegan has a spy in the town and he is someone we know well.

Exactly. Even if they didn't want to do what I said and run away, they should've at least faked like they didn't have any sort of an inventory records system and hid the guns everywhere.

You also have to consider the spy factor or at least being watched from a close vantage point. So you have to do it very quietly, under a good amount of cover (ie night), and in smaller chunks.

Keep in mind they spent some effort those first few days saving/hiding Maggie.

I think assassinating Negan, if that's all you do, would make things better in the short term but worse in the long term. There would, no doubt, be a power struggle among the Saviors. And, while that's playing out, they're probably not bothering you. But, in the end, that would be resolved and then what? Negan's lieutenant's are all enjoying living at the top of the pyramid, taking from everyone else. So, they're almost certain to continue preying on the surrounding communities once they've sorted their issues out. If the other communities aren't strong enough to resist them, I see no reason to think that the Saviors would, without Negan, suddenly become peaceful neighbors, willing to trade. And whoever the new leader is, his first order of business would probably be to eliminate whoever just assassinated his predecessor.

So, unless you're assassinating Negan as step 1 of a plan, and waiting to execute step 2 while the Saviors are disorganized, it seems like there's no real clear benefit, and a significant risk. The only way the Saviors are going to be defeated is for Alexandria, Hilltop and the Kingdom to join forces. We obviously don't have exact numbers, but the Saviors's advantage in manpower has to be big. Remember that Rick basically brought everybody to attack the Saviors at the satellite building. Even with all his fighters, he still had to sneak in and kill them in their sleep rather than take them on in a pitched battle. And, as we know now, that wasn't even the Saviors's main base. Heck, in the last episode of last season, it looked like there were more Savior fighters at just one of the roadblocks than Rick had in total.

I just wonder now, even if the three communities unite against the Saviors...what are they going to do? I was under the impression that Alexandria had far more guns than Hilltop, and it appears the Kingdom has next to no guns, and carry spears instead. Now, with all Alexandria's guns in the Saviors's hands, options seem limited. Walkers have almost become an after-thought at this point, but maybe a few people die inside the Saviors's base (maybe from the pigs), turn, and start marauding from the inside? Or another herd shows up?

Yeah, it seemed pretty clear that Rick knew nothing about the grave in advance. Which raises the question - how in the world did Gabriel know they would need a fake grave to cover Maggie's absence?

This is why I think it will take an inside man to take down Negan and his group. Perhaps Negan sees Alexandria's documentation of the weapons cache as a good thing and wants to implement that plan with the Saviors. Unfortunately for him, he puts Dwight in charge of the weapons at about the same time Dwight decides to turn on Negan.

If Eugene can make gun powder, then forget a gunfight. I'm placing IED's all over the place and taking out the Saviors in groups.

I like your thinking, But, you don't need gun powder. Use fertilizer from the local hardware/lawn and garden stores. More effective...

It appears that different Savior groups are responsible for the three locations' tax collection (Hilltop, Alexandria, and The Kingdom). If (and we don't know for sure) tax collection is the same day, then a coordinated IED attack would take out most of the Saviors.

If not on the same day, still hit one group with IEDs and plan for more to take out the follow on groups.

This ain't that hard.

Negan doesn't need spies. He just comes along every so often to each of his community bichez and whips it out. It works and everyone needs to just play ball. Rick and his band of community busters need to chill the ***k out.

What evidence is there of Eugene being a traitor? Unless this is something that happens in the comics and you're alluding to it, I have seen nothing that indicates that. Can you explain what makes you believe that?

From that point forward, Dwight & his wife are loyal friends of Rick's gang. Or maybe Dwight takes a bullet from a Savior as soon as he kills Negan. Regardless, I see Dwight regaining his humanity, helping the good guys, and redeeming himself before this is all over.
Nah Dwight screwed himself when he shot the lesbo doc through the face. The gays will have their justice.

It's actually a pretty compelling theory. No idea if its true or not, but its interesting.

They did have to get her to Hilltop. My point was simply they initially spent part of the post-Negan encounter trying to get her help - something that at least cuts a little into fight/flight planning. And like Daryl, the decision to immediately run for it means leaving her behind.

"They" didn't do anything with Maggie, Sasha volunteered to help her finish the trek to the Hilltop. The rest went back to Alexandria.

So I haven't watched a lick of this season. So far, I have no regrets, but curious if you guys are finding this season compelling. Main reason I punted was that I found the main plot lines silly and it just seemed so illogical at times (even for a zombie show). Maybe it was the Glenn surviving thing. That had a lot to do with it. Anyhow. . . Is the show better? Same? Worse

It is what it is. There are compelling characters and plots. But writers, directors, producers think that spending 15 minutes watching someone do something is compelling TV.

Oh, I figured you'd be aware of it. Just thought it was funny.

I was aggravated by indestructible Glenn, too. Pretty sure I went to the thread for that season and griped about him surviving after Nicholas shot him and he had the three zombies on top of him in the woods. And lets not even get started about the dumpster.

During Enid's scene, did anyone get the warning message that your cable provider is going to cutoff the AMC channel? Looks like Suddenlink might cut AMC.

Sorry, but what a boring episode. Always exciting to start a season, filler in between, and an end of season exciting episode.

First time I'm ever made that claim, but I promise I won't let you down Mr. Fry. I bailed on FTWD and haven't looked back. The only thing keeping me chained to TWD was the time I'd invested into it over the years but even that's lost its hold.
