The show runners are trying the pull the thing the Lost writers tried at the end of the run:

"The show was never about all the freaky things on the island, it was always about the characters... and if you don't care about the characters then you don't know how to appreciate the art we created and it is your fault if you don't like the show. We have developed deep and complex characters and this show would be great in any setting and without the freaky island stuff. Philistine!"

That didn't take long. It's a zombie show...at least operate within the laws of nature within the assumption that a virus has caused dead people to re animate. Would we be cool if Rick could fly too?

Nope, but I'm not going to let people driving a car or a character with poor trigger discipline ruin a show for me. I'll leave that up to the snail paced plot.

this show has basically turned into a bad soap opera at this point.

i hope negan kills about half the cast before and burns all three communities to the ground before they take him down. that would at least put them on the move again.

I've found this season to be the most entertaining in a while. Yea it's slow and doing lots of build up to a season finale battle, but that is literally every season of the walking dead.

This show used to be so much better, what the heck happened? Did the one in charge change and really matter that much? I like the Lost and 5th grade writing reference. The show has been a cash cow and the writers/team are being forced to extend it as long as possible. Sucks.

More than half of us are just watching now because we've been watching for years. Stupid fallacy.

I'm with you guys, I feel like I've invested so many years into what used to be a really good show. The last few seasons the wife and I have both had certain episodes on in the background while we surf the internet.

This season has been especially terrible outside of the premiere, it's almost "hate-watching" now.

Can't remember who first mentioned it, but these episodes being drawn out with emphasis on just a couple characters each week is Definitely the weak point now that I think about it.

I feel like they never used to do that in the hay day of this show.

Yep, especially the secondary characters. I can handle an episode like that from time to time involving Rick, Darryl, or Carol...because of the depth of their characters and their history.

Sasha, Rosita, Tara, Morgan...no. They're not that interesting.

The redeeming value of the Eugene episode was more Negan, and the new wrinkle of Eugene going all-in with the 'I was Negan before I met you' thing. That was entertaining.

I was hoping we'd get an all-Negan episode at some point...with flashbacks of Negan before the world fell apart, and how he became who he was. Hopefully we'll get one next season. He's been the face of the show all season...I wish they'd feature him more. It makes too much sense not to.

I'm not done with the show. I'm still a fan, and still care about the main characters. I understand that every episode can't be packed with action/suspense or the whole group doing something big...but I hope they make some adjustments for season 8.

That would be nice. It's almost become a chore to watch the show each week. I'm ready for an end game and show conclusion now.

My God, THIS.

I have actually developed a nauseous physical reaction to the moments when the slow new age music starts playing and the show goes into another 5-minute pointless back and forth dialogue between two characters that makes no sense.

Stupid Boring Character #1: "Why won't you say it?? Just SAY it!".
Stupid Boring Character #2: "Saying it would be the easy way out.... Which is what they want....Which is what YOU want...".
Stupid Boring Character #1: "How would you know what I want?? You are NOT me! And I think that has to mean something!! This. ALL. Has. To. Mean. SOMETHING".
Stupid Boring Character #2: Really? Because I think that's all bullsh**t!! And she knew it! You see? She finally got it!".
Stupid Boring Character #1: "You think I don't know that?? You think I don't see??"

And on and on and on. I never have any idea what they're talking about in those scenes. It's just back & forth gibberish.
