It has been so nice re-watching the series right now in anticipation for the finale episodes. I thought I started re-watching on a timeline that would get me done right as the new season was starting, but I'm already well into season 6. I'll be done by next week.

I may have read that Hollywood Reporter article too quickly, but I still don't understand exactly why this is the last season. Usually when a show stops it's because the ratings are bad or the stars have got so big they decided to all do movies. But I don't see that being the case here. According to the article, nobody seems real thrilled that it's ending.
I think Weiner basically just ran out of story and didn't want to stretch it too thin. This is my all time favorite show, but even I'll admit that that it's felt like they've been treading water for a while now.
Yep. The fall off happens in season 5. For whatever reason, while still good, it sputters for stretches.
I guess I've never felt that there was any fall off. To me it's one of the most consistent shows of all time as far as quality and not jumping the shark.

If not season three, season four might be my favorite season, and I guess five just didn't live up to those lofty expectations for me. Parts of it were a bit too experimental, I thought. I thought six was better, for sure, though.
That said, I need to put it all context and by saying seasons five and six of Mad Men are still better, in my opinion, that 95% of everything else on TV. Not griping about them at all. Just saying I can kind of see why Weiner chose to end the show when he did.

The show is about the 60s. When they get to the end of the 60s, the show should be over.

That being said, I loved the last 2 or so episodes. Kinda curious how it will be watching week to week.
Is anybody elses AMC currently messing up? It works fine for about 10 seconds and then freezes up. Only channel I have that is doing this. I have uverse and am in DFW and starting to get worried/pissed.

I have uverse in DFW and mine froze when I first flipped to AMC, but has been fine for the last couple of minutes. This better not be effed up.

Ken won the episode. His big F.U. to the company about now being their hard-to-please client was great.
Roger and Ted's staches made me laugh out loud.
