Never underestimate the power of playing in Utah during the playoffs. The Jazz probably havent gone 0fer in the playoffs in something like 2 decades.

Spurs vs. Jazz it is. Hopefully the Spurs come out of that series healthy. That's really the only concern.

There was so much confetti, I thought Utah just won the Championship.

Barkley has been riding the Spurs jock all year. Just said the Spurs are in for a tough road ahead against the Jazz. not gonna be a quick 4-0 series

he is correct. he must read my texags posts

Bring it on.

Saturday can't get here fast enough.

I wish there was a way Pop could just forfeit the last 2 games.

Oh, Spurs in 5. Jazz probably take the first game in their house.

Spurs in 5.

i think the spurs will get knocked in the mouth in game 3, and then win a close game 4, then blow out game 5.

Spurs sweep. They are on another level compared to Utah, and it's not even close. Utah will fold mentally after getting hammered the 1st two games in San Antonio.

And your boy Shaq just said the Spurs will have no problem handling Utah.

He also said Artest got off easy with the 7 games, that it should have been at least 10 or more games.

Barkley also said at halftime of the Heat/Celtics game that the Spurs were going to win the Championship this year.

Shaq's predictions have been pretty monumentally bad since he joined TNT. and maybe ever.

Also seeing a lot of commentary that Big Al is poised to be this years ZBo. Not good if youre the Spurs

Except that the commentary was that Al Jeff doesn't have the ability to do what ZBo did.

My Prediction: Spurs win games 1, 2, 3 or 4, and 5 (I'm betting game 3).

I'd be surprised to see them sweep

I'll be conservative. Spurs in 6.

Neal's injury kind of makes things interesting. If they sit the big three out for both games, we will play a back-2-back with a 9 man rotation. Maybe 10 if we call up Joseph. I want to see James Anderson play 48 minutes.

This just in: My sources now are telling me that all of the comparisons between this year's and last year's Spurs team are stupid.

Last year's team stumbled into the playoffs, lost their best offensive player in the last game of the regular season, and had nothing going on defensively down low.

This year's team is flying into the playoffs as the hottest team in the league, has all of their best players healthy and has great depth to account for injuries, has added size both on the perimeter and down low, and tea-bagged the most talented front court in the league twice in the same week last week.

My prediction: Jazz take game 1, Simplebay and pundits jizz themselves just thinking about another possible first round exit, then Spurs win games 2-5 for the backdoor sweep.

Losing the first game of the playoffs has happened to the Spurs in title years before, anyway. See 2003, 2005, 2007.

I don't see it happening. I'm not saying they'll sweep, but this is as deep and as hungry a Spurs team as we've seen any time since '03. I think they'll show up ready to play and they'll crush the jazz in game 1. I just don't think Utah has the horses at this point. They're happy just to be in.

I understand why the comparisons are made between AJ and ZBo, but ZBo was a much better player last year than many gave him credit for.

Zach Randolph had the distinction for being the first player ever in NBA history to receive a Player of the Month award, and not make an All-Star game (the other P.o. M. recipients to that point last year: Deron Williams, LBJ, D.Wade, Durant, and Howard). I think he came into the series really wanting to prove something.

Also, I do think the regular season says something about matchups. Last year the Spurs split with the Grizzlies 2-2, with one of the games an OT Spurs victory in S.A. The Spurs went 3-1 on the Jazz this year, with the one loss having a DNP by TD, Manu, and TP.

And as mentioned before, this is a much better Spurs team. However, in saying that, I think that for the Jazz to get a game, they have to do it in game 1 in S.A. I don't think they can come back to SLC down 2-0 and win either game 3 or 4.

They also don't have a Gasol-type capable of dominating whoever Duncan isn't covering.

Even though my prediction is Spurs in 5, make no mistake. Spurs will wipe the floor with the Jazz.

In other news, Big 3 is in tonight and is flying back to SA afterwards.

pop knows better than to not play the big 3 these last two games. give 'em 10-20 minutes both games just to keep the legs fresh.

they could lose both of these games by 40 and i wouldn't give a ****.
MassAggie97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree. I've been hoping they'll see time in at least one of the games just to keep the legs warm. Don't repeat last year when they fell entirely on their face at the end of the regular season.

My bet is Pop will be watching Chicago against Indiana to make his decision. If Chicago wins, there's no use in chasing something that is unlikely to come to fruition.

If Chicago loses, the Spurs can get into #1 overall position with a win against a craptastic Suns team with nothing to play for.

Big 3 will get minutes just to keep the well-oiled machine running on all cylinders. But how many they get will probably depend on whether there is actually anything at all to play for.

Italaggie, got it off Spurstalk. Not confirmed.

Edit: And I agree about the Bulls. I'm all for getting the overall top seed if we can.

Good point. I'd hate to seem them have a chance at homecourt throughout, just to piss it away by having the big 3 on the bench.

All of this "our health is more important to us than home court" is horse****. Either that or it is just ignorant. There's plenty of evidence that shows beyond a statistical doubt that an NBA team is far more likely to win on their home court than they are on the road. On the other hand, there is NO evidence (that I'm aware of) that a player is more likely to get injured by playing 2 nights in a row.

I understand limiting minutes, but I get annoyed with the assertion that a professional athlete under 40 years old can't play 2 nights in a row without getting hurt. It is probably my biggest annoyance, along with the "lets get a 2-for-1 at the end of each quarter at all costs, even if it means our first shot is a ridiculously bad one and only leaves us 3 seconds for our second shot".

Havent some spurs in recent weeks said absolutely they are going for the #1 overall seed?

I've never heard a player say "We don't really care about rankings or HCA, so we are going to **** around for a couple weeks since we already locked up a spot for the playoffs."
Enzo The Baker

I believe that was in reference to the west. I know Duncan said that (Happy Birthday, Timmy), but he didn't want to do it at the expense of injuries.
Simplebay

Soup once again twisting words and making up nonsense. I said nothing about the negate of that. Lack of something does not make the opposite exist. This is something you seem to have a problem with.

Stick to personal insults assuming about real life. Lets put it in a way that you hopefully can understand. but there's never knowing with your mind.

In the past couple weeks, one or more of the spurs players have said in an interview, almost verbatim, that they are pursuing the #1 seed and want it.
