Just a reminder: Gavin Grahovac is really good.

Through 25 games, the All-American had just two home runs.

This weekend in Columbia, Texas A&M’s power-hitting first baseman took the opportunity to remind everyone what he’s capable of.

In a three-game sweep of Mizzou, Grahovac was 4-for-10 with four home runs, four walks, a hit-by-pitch, seven runs scored and 12 RBI. As a result, he was named the Southeastern Conference’s co-Player of the Week.

He enjoyed multi-home run games on both Saturday and Sunday, but on Friday, his status for the remainder of the weekend was called into question.

On a throwing error that got by Grahovac, Mizzou shortstop Blaize Ward stepped on the Aggie slugger’s right hand. In the next half inning, Blake Binderup pinch-hit for Grahovac as the Maroon & White held on for an 11-9 series-opening victory.

Never appearing on the SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report, Grahovac was back atop the Aggie lineup on Saturday afternoon, walking to kickstart an offensive performance that hung 14 runs on Mizzou pitching.

With A&M leading 6-1 in the third, the junior refound his power stroke, launching a 405-foot, three-run home run to center field. Two innings later, he launched a two-run blast to left.

In Sunday’s sweep-clinching run-rule, Grahovac’s second-inning three-run shot was just a sign of things to come. The 30th homer of his career staked the Aggies to a 4-0 lead that continued to swell. In the third, he hit a 397-foot grand slam to increase the Aggie advantage to 10-0.

“When there’s two factors going into a baseball game, there’s a lot to think about,” the wounded Grahovac told the SEC Network+ broadcast on Sunday. “I tried to think about the pain a little bit more and less about the swing. It kind of helped.

“I think my approach was just get the ball to the outfield. … He gave me a pitch to hit, and I delivered for the team.”

He overdelivered. He has been delivering all year.

In 27 starts at first base, Grahovac is hitting .354 with a 1.118 OPS. He has nine doubles to his credit and 38 RBI, getting on base at a .472 clip as Michael Earley’s leadoff man.

In A&M’s first nine conference games, he is hitting a team-best .375 with a 1.346 OPS and 18 runs driven in.

This is the third SEC weekly honor of his career, as Grahovac was named the league’s Freshman of the Week twice in 2024 (April 15 and April 22).

Grahovac becomes the second Aggie to be named the SEC’s Player of the Week in 2026, joining Caden Sorrell’s Opening Weekend performance.
