you know times are bad for spurs haters when even l.a. homer adonde writes an article like this...he even calls out simmons on the 2000 playoffs not getting the timmah asterisk...

De Colo is signing with Madrid next season. You have to believe that SA's interest in bringing him here wasn't that heavy yet.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Eighteen wins in a row, and eight more victories to go.

That practically sums it up for the San Antonio Spurs, who returned home Monday after sweeping another playoff series and pushed their winning streak into a tie for the fifth-longest in NBA history.

The Spurs now get their second extended break of the playoffs before opening the Western Conference finals this weekend at the earliest. They'll play either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Oklahoma City, which can advance with a win Monday night.

If the Thunder wins, Game 1 will be Sunday. The Spurs also enjoyed a week to recover between the first and second rounds.

San Antonio is back in the West finals for the first time since 2008.

And could go 8-6 the rest of the way and win it all.

Spurs are 30-2 in their last 32, with one of the losses being close, on the road, with no Parker/Duncan/Manu even in attendance.

Can the Thunder make them go 2-4 to end the year?

God, I love Duncan.

quote:
"Though I shouldn't say that; I have to threaten them that I'll leave," he joked. "No … I'm not going anywhere. You can print that wherever you want to. I'm here and I'm a Spur for life."

So awesome to hear that from Duncan. Of course we all knew that he would resign, but to hear him come out and say it like that is pretty cool. Love Duncan, and i love the spurs organization and their commitment to winning. Go spurs go

Me neither. I was at that game and Mario's confidence made me certain they would finally win their first that year.

Interesting article, though I couldn't disagree more about the Spurs being "genuinely boring".

Their play is not what is boring. This has been one of the most exciting teams to play in ages. People are in awe of what they do on the court. Their coach isn't boring, the media has been hanging on virtually every soundbite coming from Pop's huddle.

It's their player personalities to the casual fan who has no rooting interest that are boring, and I can understand that. You have to be a Spurs fan to appreciate that, and there are only so many Spurs fans, mostly centralized in south Texas.

If this team played in New York or LA, they would already be talked about as one of the best teams of all time, in any sport. People would be hanging on every boring thing they have to say, because those teams just have a lot bigger following by the numbers.

Now its being reported that de Colo is coming to the spurs next season and that he and the team came to an agreement weeks ago

what crow is there to eat? a couple of bad games doesn't define who this team has been all season. OKC is freakishly good. no shame in that.

i would be satisfied if the spurs took this to game seven, even if they lost the series, cause at least it would show they didnt lay down and quit when they were down to their last gasp in the twilight of duncans career
Enzo The Baker
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I thought Leonard and Jax were the most consistent this series. Parker and Duncan were too erratic. Manu was turnover prone. Just couldn't make the stops when we needed to. Our defense didn't hold up in the end against a championship caliber team. It will be interesting to see what the Spurs do in the offseason.
