Went down after a screen by Kurt Thomas, looked like his head bounced around a little bit. Hopefully he's ok.

37 point lead, 33 assists, and 60% from the field and from the arc. Offensive clinic.

Hopefully they will give a preliminary report before going off the air. I'm watching a stream.

Portland rolls the ball to conserve time then promptly turns it over.

Just said "no word on Neal."

Now the question is..can we win 50 to keep the streak intact?

Doubtful. Suns are fighting for their lives, and I doubt Timmy even makes the trip.

If Suns lose to Utah tomorrow night, won't they be out?
agwin12
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No doubt that it will be up to our bench to win the next 2.

Wouldnt the Spurs prefer to play the Suns? Not that the Jazz are scary, but they are more physical inside and it would be a more of physical series, where the Suns are more of a finesse/older team.

I would rather play the Suns, but I don't think it really matters.

Phoenix plays at Utah tomorrow night. If Utah wins, they clinch. The Spurs bench might beat Phoenix either way.

WOAI said Neal just has a bruised shoulder.

I don't see this team losing in the 1st round, regardless whom we play. Last year, we knew that we were in a tough series with Memphis. Just did not match up well.

The Spurs’ scoring binge gave them more than 100 points in eighth consecutive games. That streak matches a team record for consecutive 100-point games in the Gregg Popovich coaching era.

It took ref help for Utah to beat us, at their house, while our 3 best players stayed home to play D&D in Duncan's basement.

We'd beat Utah in 5. I think we'd sweep the Suns. Minus Nash, their entire roster bites.

Never played it before, but how cool would it be to play D&D with those guys?

Unfortunately, not very. D&D just can't be cool/

The number I'm hearing Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum will command this off season is $10-11 million per, according to a few league executives when Batum becomes a restricted free agent.

And, I'm being told by multiple sources that the San Antonio Spurs will make a hard push to attain the promising small forward.

If that ever came into fruition, Batum, 23, would love to play for coach Gregg Popovich and his structured system. Keep in mind that Batum thought he was going to be a Spur until the Houston Rockets took him at No. 25 in the 2008 NBA draft, to Batum's surprise.

“I was shocked,” Batum told CSNNW.com. “I thought for sure I was headed to San Antonio. I was talking with Tony (Parker) and the guys and then Houston drafts me out of nowhere. I never worked out for them. They had T-Mac (Tracy McGrady) and (Shane) Battier at that time, and I was confused. Then I was traded to Portland and I was like 'okay, that's better'.”

Very good player. Just don't see where he would fit, unless we let Green walk.

That's a lot of money to throw at him. ESP when green and leonard look so promising. But then again I haven't seen him play much and I definitely trust our front office. We will see

The players that are in the rotation at SG/SF:
James Anderson 6-6
Manu Ginobili 6-6
Danny Green 6-6
Stephen Jackson 6-8
Kawhi Leonard 6-7
Gary Neal 6-4

The Spurs have 2 to 3 of those guys on the court at any one time. James Anderson seems to be hanging on the roster by a thread. Stephen Jackson is 34 years old and has one more year on his 10mm dollar contract. Manu is getting older. Gary Neal and Danny Green will likely command more money in their next contracts, and the Spurs may not think it's worth it to keep them since they seem to be able to manufacture those guys.

Batum is a versatile, young 6-8 French G/F who shoots 39% from 3. If you lose 1-2 players from the rotation, he would be really nice to have. Probably not a gamechanger, but still a really nice piece to help build the next generation Spurs.

Also, at some point we're going to have to accept that Pop just wants to see if he can win the NBA title with the French national team.

So if the Jazz beat the Suns tonight, the Suns are out, but from what I can tell the Nuggets could still drop 2 and the Mavs could lose their last game to leave them all at 36-30. In the off chance this happens, anyone know the tiebreaker?
Ulrich
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just looking at the schedules and who has won head-to-head:
Dallas (clinched) has tiebreaker over Utah, Phoenix, and Denver.
Utah has tiebreaker over Phoenix and Denver.
Denver (clinched) has tiebreaker over Phoenix.

The only way Phoenix gets in (as the 8) is if Utah loses to Phoenix tonight and Portland on Thursday.

Utah clinches with 1 win.
Dallas can be 6 or 7.
Utah can be 7 or 8.
Denver can be 6, 7, or 8.

EDIT: fixed something. I think that is all right.

I think Batum would be a nice transition piece (although I don't think he's worth $10MM). Out of all of those players mentioned, only Leonard is locked after next season. Anderson is a gonner after this season. And it might be hard to keep both Neal and Green after this season (depending on how they perform in the playoffs). I would like to see us go after Hibbert, but I know that's a pipedream.

Batums agent obviously doesn't know how restricted free agency works. The Spurs won't have money for Batum.

Is there any chance the Spurs could amnisty SJax and sign Batum this summer?
Enzo The Baker
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm not positive but I don't think so. I think a player had to be on your team at the time of the CBA. Could be wrong though.

Ital is right. We can not amnesty sjax although his 9 mil expiring contract will end up being easy to move next year if we decide to take that route.

The Suns' website says Phoenix will have the tie breaker over Utah with a win tonight.

The Spurs should then let them win Wednesday, so they get the 8 seed.

It is a lovely pipe dream indeed, but I agree...if we are going to be throwing money around I'd like to see us go after hibbert. But I don't think we have the cash regardless
