Jesus simplebay, you have some serious problems going on in your head.

RJ out tonight for the warriors, but that's the least of their problems. They're missing like, 5 of their 6 best players.

quote:
It’s only part of the injury concerns facing Golden State coach Mark Jackson, whose team will also be without leading scorer and rebounder David Lee tonight. Lee has a strained groin/hip and will miss the rest of the season.

Other injuries for the Warriors for tonight’s game include center Andris Biedrins (mild concussion), center Andrew Bogut (broken left ankle) and guard Stephen Curry (sprained right ankle).

Good opportunity here. If the big 3 play more than 50 combined minutes, I'll be surprised and dismayed.

Kobe's out again tomorrow vs the spurs. Think they can keep it within 29 points this time?

The playoffs start two days after the end of the season, so the first series will come fast and furious.

For reference, today at this time was pretty much the start of playoffs.

I could see pop going either way against the lakers. Manu would figure least likely to help them against the lakers. No telling.

Jackson is too big a part of the team right now. Taking too many contested shots and handling the ball too much. Hopefully that's just a result of being on the floor with the bench and huge leads.

OKC Clips tied. Let's go Clippers!

30 point lead down to 18. Not worried but no shots falling right now for the bench.

OKC down 10.

First place. Don't see Pop going for that first seed, but damn it'd be nice. Would be great to get the Suns in round 1.

I hope the big 3 play tomorrow. Pop can sit them for the SAC game.

I can see OKC losing 1 more game this year, 2 games max. We would just have to tie OKC since we own the tie-breaker but that will still be pretty tough with LA 2 more times on the schedule. Need a W in LA tom.

Tough little predicament the Spurs have found themselves in tbqh. Of course the 1 seed would be good but by beating LAL to get it we essentially could knock them down to 4 to get it lol. That's not exactly what we want. The Spurs need to avoid the Lakers 2nd round.

Even if Pop decides to tank the game tomorrow at LAL which is still a possibility IMO, it might not be a terrible move because

1. The Spurs would still have a great shot at the 1 seed even if they drop 1 game to LAL
2. It will help keep LAL at 3, which is what we want if we end up with 1.

Pretty interesting.

The Lakers have the Spurs twice, OKC at home and two byes (GS and Sac). That's probably two losses.

The Clippers have @Den, @PHX, NO, @ATL, @NYK. None of those games are going to be very easy. Even NO is playing well. @ATL might be tanking to avoid the Celtics but that might be the only tanking team they play. There are probably two losses in there.

OKC has @PHX, @SAC, @LAL, SAC, DEN. The two SAC games are wins. Those other three games are pretty tough. One or two losses, tbh.

Spurs have @LAL @SAC LAL CLE POR @PHO @GS

If the Spurs split the LAL games and win the rest we should get the 1 seed. The two home games (cle and por) are easy wins and so should SAC and GS.

The only other game that could derail our finish is @PHO which could be a very tough game or a very easy game (Depending on where PHO sits in the seedings come that time) They could be knocked out or still right in the thick of things come that time.

Alright now my head hurts.

To me, if you're the Spurs you try and win this game tonight by throwing the kitchen sink at the Lakers. By beating them, ultimate control of where you will be seeded is still in the Spurs' hands. If LAL moves back to 4, the Spurs would still have plenty of time to tank the last few games and drop to the 2 spot. But if the Spurs lose, LAL will almost certainly end up at 3 and the Spurs will have to go through a dogfight just to have a shot at the 1 seed.

To me, you go for the 1st seed no matter what. Even if LA does get the 4th, there is a big difference in them playing the 5th than the 6th. The main thing the Spurs need to focus on is playing at their best level at the end of these next ten days. If they are playing their best ball, they will lock up the 1st seed regardless.

Good news for the Spurs (I think you were talking about this with me, Sher)

I understand the "rest the old guy's legs" policy, and I even can understand the careless attitude about the winning streaks this year. You play for the championship, I get that.

However, the "big 3" played a grand total of 41 combined minutes in a blowout last night, and the flight from Oakland to LA is, what, an hour? They were humiliated on their home floor by LA last week. They have a chance to send a message, and they should be fresh.

I'll be sorely disappointed if Pop doesn't play his best players tonight. They are professional athletes. They get payed to be on the court, and they earn their money in games like this.

And it isn't like the "rest" policy worked last year anyhow. Manu and Tim were both injured and out of sorts by the time the playoffs rolled around.

I don't care which seed the Spurs get, as long as they get to dispatch the Mavericks in the first round.

not really sure if this is true.

If I'm the Lakers, I want Dallas to climb past Memphis to the 5th spot, and the Lakers fall to the 4th spot. Assuming the spurs finish first.

That means the bracket shapes up as:

San Antonio
Phoenix
vs.
Lakers
Mavs

other side

Thunder
Nuggets
vs.
Clippers
Grizzlies

If this happens, The Lakers will go to the Finals. If LA keeps the 3rd spot, best work out for them is:

Thunder
Suns
vs.
Clippers
Grizzlies

other side

Spurs
Nuggets
vs.
Lakers
Mavs

If this happens, Lakers will make the Finals.

7 and 8 are probably going to be 2 from Phoenix, Houston, and Utah. None of those teams are very dangerous; Utah is tough at home, but they won't have homecourt. SA and OKC have the 1 and 2, so they can't meet until conference finals.

The second round matchups are the trouble spots. 1 plays 4/5 and 2 plays 3/6.

The Lakers and Clippers are fighting it out for the 3 seed; either one could get it and they both want it. The Lakers are a tougher out, but who actually gets the 3 is a coinflip. The 4 will be the other one, and the 5 will probably be Memphis. The 6 seed is probably going to be Dallas or Denver, neither of which are teams anyone is tremendously worried about. The comparative strength of the 5 and 6 are why the Lakers and Clips definitely want to be the 3 seed.

If I'm the Spurs, the teams I don't want to play are Memphis and the Lakers. Memphis will be in the upper bracket, the Lakers could be in either one. The perfect scenario is thus for the Spurs to get the #2 seed while the Lakers get bumped down to #4. OKC plays the winner of LAL/MEM while SAS gets the Clippers/garbage.

For that to happen SA will have to lose at least two more games. They don't get to play the Clippers again (the best team to hand a win), but they have the Lakers left, a team they want to beat. Based on how things stand now, I'm seeing the Spurs totally throwing the games @PHO and @GS (road back-to-back 2 days before the playoffs start means at least one would get thrown regardless of seeding) and maybe the game @SAC (third game of b2b2b on Cali road trip with seeding implications). Obviously how other teams do and how tonight's game with the Lakers goes could change that, but they've got to try to win tonight.
Ulrich

Of course, Memphis could try to tank to get the 3/6 matchup. Dallas has to keep winning, because they are 1.5 games from missing the playoffs altogether.
