Yep, make a couple of those threes and this game ends differently. Not that it matters. Would have been a nice W for the bench, but this game was a wash when Duncan, Parker, and Manu stayed home to play D&D.

Yep, we missed some open shots down the stretch. At least now they know why they are coming off the bench as opposed to starting. Having said that, the FT difference was a crime.

Would have been nice to keep the streak alive, but it's hard to get too upset about taking a playoff team to the wire, on the road, when our 3 best players are watching the game back in SA. Probably from a Jim's.

I was disappointed with the way we missed open shots in the last 6 minutes.

I didn't see the whole game. So maybe my Jackson comment was wrong. Just seemed like he didn't have the ball in his hands as much towards the end. When he did he was shooting a three.

Jackson and Green costed the Spurs this game.

But oh well, good effort without the big 3. Some big games coming up here soon and hopefully our guys are nice and rested for them.

You don't think that the NBA head office was sending a message to Pop about leaving the Big 3 at home, do you?

It they had hitted some more shots, then the Spurs might have woned.

Spurs' Gregg Popovich pregame on 'keys to the game': "It's all bullshiiitt. ... Just make it up and say I said it."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm almost positive you're kidding, but since it's pop i'm not 100%. So did he actually say this?

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich's not a big fan of being asked about "keys to the game." For the second consecutive contest, the uncompromising Popovich received the same question. Sunday, he was in top form. Monday was quote-of-the-year worthy.

Popovich on Sunday, asked about 'keys to the game': You're kidding? … Score more points than them. Play hard. Come on. This is ridiculous.

Popovich on Monday: Did you ask me that last night? Say whatever you want. It's transition D. It's making shots. Don't turn it over. It's all bull[crap]. Have more points than they do, that's the key. Just make it up and say I said it. I don't care.

i was not kidding. pop did indeed say that

Pop is great.

It will be a sad day in the NBA when he retires.

Kobe is doubtful for tomorrow's game.
Simplebay
How long do you want to ignore this user?
no he's not.

he's definitely ruled out.

you know his shin must be really bothering him. at this point seeding can take a hit for LA for kobe to get 1-2 weeks off.

Pop hopefully rests a few guys for memphis and manages the big 3's mins against LA.

Game is huge for LA though, I'm sure they'll get up for us.
Simplebay

How is game huge for LA? They have a 1.5 lead and tiebreaker in the division. More than likely the clippers will lose @OKC too.

The lakers played uninspired and barely eeked out a win against NO. And 3 of their 4 best players are on the injury report.

The Lakers are playing uninspired, and are acting like they are looking ahead.

I expect the spurs to win at home by double digits easily. Not am antijinx

I think it's kind of funny that some of Utah's players talked about how they felt insulted so they were especially motivated to win and they acted all bad at the end when they did pull it out... when it took officiating help and several wide-open missed threes by the Spurs in the last 2 minutes for the Jazz to win by 7 at home against a team that left its 3 best players on the couch.

Lol, simple already making excuses and covering.

Simpleton is setting this one up nicely. If the Spurs don't win by double digits, he will say that if Bryant were playing they would have easily won this game. He will then proceed to continue on with how overrated the Spurs are and how he would looooove to see this team come playoff time. And if the Spurs do win by double digits? They were supposed to.

This game is not huge for either team. Pretty meaningless tbh.
Enzo The Baker
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I wouldn't say meaningless. I'd like to see the Spurs have HCA throughout the WC playoffs.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The Spurs aren't getting the one. There at least 3 more games on the schedule where I think Pop will sit out his guys. He's made it blatantly clear that he doesn't care about the 1 seed.

The Spurs need 5 more wins to lock up the 2 seed no matter what LA does. They will get the 2 and be happy with it. Just trying to stay healthy at this point.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The Spurs have 11 games in 15 days to close out the year. After that they have ONE DAY OFF before playoffs begin.

Spurs need to stay healthy. That's all. We don't need to be reminded about what happened to Manu last season.

I think it's good to limit minutes. But it's no safeguard against injuries. Anything can happen whether you play one minute or thirty five minutes. Look at the last two big injuries that happened to Manu. Both of them were because of unusual instances.

I just want Manu to be in playoff form. And to me, he's definitely not there yet. And he won't get there unless he gets the playing time. It's a very fine line, no doubt.
Simplebay

I don't think this game will be a good judge of either team's ability to play on another. especially with Kobe not playing. even if he was, i picked the Spurs to win this game.

I don't really see how this is me making up excuses. It's drawing conclusions from facts. Kobe has sat out the past 2 games, teams have collapsed on Bynum and forced him to shoot the ball poorly. The Lakers have no 3pt shooting to space the floor, fortunately Sessions has done a great job keeping the offense in check.

As a result, they got blown out @Phoenix, and barely won against a shorthanded Hornets team.

The Spurs should, and will, blow the game out. Not really sure what's confusing about this.
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And he still has the gall to call out Spurs fans for making excuses.
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Game will be absolutely meaningless. The only team that has anything to gain from this game has already waved the white flag.

On the other hand, Lakers may play like a team with nothing to lose, or playing "with house money".
Simplebay
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sharkie, you really need to learn the difference between "excuses" and "predictions based upon evidence explaining the reason for a loss"

For example:
Me- The Lakers lost this game because they gave up 19 offensive rebounds to one of the 5 worst rebounding teams in the league, and let PlayerX shoot 70% and doubled his season average. They played uninspired, and this is even more evident by the fact they've given up double digit leads in 4 of the last 5 games

You- The refs screwed us in this game. This is the second night of a back to back, and the Spurs are DNP-OLD tired.

My reasons are verifiably changeable events that differ from the statistical norm, which was/is correctable by the team in question. It was not corrected upon, therefore major or wholly justifying the reason for loss.

Your way? It's called an excuse. Outside of the Spurs control, whining, and hilarity enuses.

Ginobili, Parker, and Duncan sitting out is a verifiable event that differs from the statistical norm

Our 3 best players sitting out is correctable by the Spurs. It was not "corrected" in Utah, which wholly justified the reason for the loss
Simplebay
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And I never said a single thing about that not being the reason for the Spurs loss.

in fact, i've rarely ever said anything about the actual reasons for Spurs losses. because on this board since 2008, it doesn't matter about reasons, the majority is excuses.

i do however point out the excuses spurs fans make. and point out actual reasons for a Lakers loss, and in my prediction for tonight I figured not having Kobe goes without saying. as i never said (or discredited it) for the loss in utah. so i mentioned the other reasons why they will probably. Not excuses.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Joey Crawford reffing tonight definitely sucks but that's no excuse.

tbh, Kobe sitting out of this game puts a lot of pressure on the Spurs to win. Not that it would be a huge deal if the Spurs lost but it would certainly give a lot of confidence to an LA team who won without Kobe.

The reason tonight's game isn't so important is because whoever loses has 2 more tries to redeem themselves within the next 10 days.

Tonight will also be a nice measure of the Spurs frontcourt (or lack thereof) against a big LA team. LA will be forced to go inside all game and that is definitely this Spurs teams weakness. If Pop would just play Tiago and Tim together it would virtually be a non issue, but for some reason Pop just doesn't do it.
