Newcastle have looked threatening on the break. De Gea has made 2 reasonable saves and Jones had to make a perfect last man tackle to stop a 1v1 that he himself created.

I cracked and bought the plan so I could watch all the Liverpool games. Didn't seem too expensive and I got pissed when I couldn't get one of the games.

Newcastle had another decent chance on a Rondon header. United playing about the same as recent games but their intricate play is missing by fractions of an inch inside the box. That said they haven't really tested the Dubrovka.

That and a deep run in the CL would make it extremely difficult not to keep him on. That said, if he was signed permanently, I could see it going the way of Di Matteo at Chelsea. Get a permanent contract after succeeding beyond all expectations and then getting axed a few months into his contract.

One other point about the schedule. We only have 2 remaining away games against the other teams in the top 6. Tottenham next week and Arsenal in March. We may not make top 4 but we have about as favorable of a schedule as you could hope for to make a run at it.

In previous years, you'd probably be right. Our defense only conceding 10 goals (including the two today) gives me hope that we'll shake it off and continue to play at a high level to finish the year. I also take comfort knowing every victory from here on out will be a personal affront to you.
