Almost all of W.E.B. Griffins book series have main characters that are Aggies. And they are all portrayed in a positive light.

Back in the late 80's, a very popular novel with the Army was Team Yankee, sort of a Red Storm Rising from the viewpoint of a tank company commander. A replacement, 2nd Lt. Randall Avery, is from Texas A&M and the other officers tease him about it when he tells them. He gets badly wounded a few days later.

quote:
can anyone from the late 60's, early 70's confirm that Mark Harmon (NCIS, I think) was in the Corps? I remember being told he was in and then got out, didn't make it because he was a wet nap.

Good Lord! It's like I've traveled back in time to a place without simple Internet google searches. IMDB and Wikipedia aren't 100 % accurate but they are good enough to definitively kill rumors like ZACH FROM SAVED BY THE BELL WENT TO A&M!

Sorry to the poster I quoted, that was just the point in the thread I lost it.

duffelpud, you didn't follow directions, I said in the OP that there was no need to post a link to that scene.

Has anyone mentioned FDT in A Few Good Men? No, well there you have it, they were.

Also Julia Roberts comment in that one crappy movie of hers.

Also that one movie about a ***** house.

Say, wasn't there some music video with a famous rapper wearing an A&M shirt or sweater.

Geez, I can't believe nobody has mentioned these things at all.

I'm not gonna go through all 9 pages on my phone, so sorry if already mentioned.

In TrueBlood, the Christian vampire hater states that he played football at A&M but have to stop due to injury.

I definitely consider commercials a part of pop culture(You've come a long way, baby; What's uuuuuup?), which is why I posted the ad a few posts ago.

I believe one guy may have mentioned the drill team in A Few Good Men earlier in the thread, but I read that due to the time of filming, it was actually a group of former Fish Drill Team members as the current team had not had enough practice.

Rico Rodriguez ("Manny" from Modern Family) was born in College Station and supposedly still has family in Byran. He was shown in the stands at Kyle during a game last year.

Of course, this gives me a reason to post a picture of his TV mother, Sofia Vergara.

Y'all have probably never heard of it, but there was an obscure film a few years back called "A Few Good Men" which reportedly featured current members of the Ross Volunteers during the closing credits.

Portions of the movie about Bear Bryant were filmed on campus while I was in the FTAB. They filmed some scenes at Kyle and The Grove.

A couple years ago I was watching some NatGeo documentary on drugs or something like that, and there was a short clip of people dancing at a club in Amsterdam. This guy's t-shirt caught my eye so I rewinded and paused, and sure enough, it was a blue "STANDING FOR AMERICA" shirt from the red-white-blue out.

And the word on campus is that Manny from Modern Family still lives in College Station. One of my friends saw him in town last semeseter and put a picture of him on facebook.Creep.
