Laugh all you want, but with the makeup of our demographics being skewed with the very young college age folks and the retirement hotbed for old Aggies, IMHO, that lessens the need for a ME in Brazos County.

I have no idea of the ME needs for Brazos County. However, old people tend to die eventually and if they die at home rather than in a hospital, they likely need an ME.

I'd guess the ME would probably also take cases from the surrounding counties that are also currently sending to Austin/Houston.

If you're past a certain age, and you pass away at your home or one of the plethora of retirement communities, an autopsy isn't needed.

That would be my hope, that the contracts from surrounding small counties would offset the expense, but money moves by Judge Duane doesn't give me very much confidence in that.

Depends on circumstances, how long until someone finds you, if you were regularly seeing a doctor who will sign your death certificate, etc.

The Travis county office is stupid busy all the time and constantly runs with a backlog of cases. I don't trust ol Duane at all but this isn't going to be a waste.

And yes, it will serve a 100 mile radius around Brazos county.

Agree with this. B/CS are adults now. Time to grow up, kids. That doesn't excuse poor elected officials like Peters, but this is something that is needed in this region. We need to stop being the wart of Austin, Waco/Temple/Killen, or Houston depending on the service/industry.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Kay's Jeweler is coming to the shopping center where Kohl's is located. There is a coming soon sign between Nothing Bundt Cakes and Home Goods.

That location isn't good. You can only enter from the north and exit to the south, and sometimes even that is difficult.
