Both are owned by the individual that owns Napa Flats. There was some collaboration on the french concept with the chef/owner of 1860.


Ahh gotcha. I thought the 1860 chef owned Cochon.

Had dinner at Cochon last night. They have the new name on the building but haven't updated the menu. Someone said they were waiting on the pizza oven install. I'm a huge fan of Napa Flats, I think it the best value (quality food for the dollar) in town but the Cochon experience yesterday wasn't good. Server was completely overwhelmed, didn't write anything down and messed up our order, we didn't see her from the time she took our order until we had been finished eating for over 15 minutes. Food was okay but not the quality we expected. Hope it was a one off.

Approach from the west if you want to be able to get there.
Or if you approach from the east, take a left on Cavitt at the light, take your first right on Elm and it will be a block west on your right. You can pull into the parking lot. Super easy, if you plan.


Coming from the east, there is also a median cut on Villa Maria right onto Crane St. and into the parking lot.

I have seldom had a server who relied on their memory to take orders get it right.

They apparently fresh-made in-house, aimed at being healthy and "macro friendly", then frozen for microwaving or oven cooking. It looks like you can also get fresh ones in store (or will soon, they have a "cafe" opening on the 1st in the store), so might be a way to try without doing a big order.

I agree; the website really needs a better explanation of it all (and ingredient lists/allergen warnings). I had to dig through their FB to get a good idea of it. Shipped order are of course pre-frozen and packed with dry ice. They ship outside of Texas which is cool.

Is Poche's also Johnny Poche and Slocum? I've seen RC in there a couple times.

We have loved Le Petit. Probably won't be eating there again if it is just another Napa Flats. If we wanted to eat at NP, we'd drive there and eat.

Looking at the menus, it is not just another Napa Flats location. Many 'little pig' items are on the menu. I'm happy that the Palo Alto dip and pizzas will be available. I live near Towerpoint and love the convenience of it being nearby.

When I talked to Tom, he said they are really trying to keep the Cochon vibe and experience. Without a change though, Cochon was probably completely going away.

Why would you want to keep the experience and vibe if without a change it was going away ? That doesn't make sense. Anyway, that location is horrible. There is a reason it's failed over and over, and features a derelict car wash as a neighbor.

The location is horrible esp not having direct access to the feeder.

They have a group of really loyal regulars. They want to be able to keep doing wine dinners and bringing a different choice to the area. They just need to be more consistently busy.

I rarely go to high end places, because eating out is already so expensive. So I have never been to Cochon. Heard great things about it. The restaurant business is really tough right now and I think we haven't gone because we are afraid of too high a price point. But Napa Flats is great food at a decent cost. So now we might try the new iteration. Maybe targeting folks like me?

We've been four times and had two great meals, and two not so good. The two dinners we had last year when Chef Poche was still involved were amazing. Our brunch experience earlier this year was average at best, and there was a noticeable quality and service difference the last time we ate dinner there a few months ago. Hopefully they'll find the right mix to stay open and thrive.

And most of those have direct access from the feeder or clear driveway immediately of the street you turn on. You have to know to turn on Arrington and go behind the credit union before you get to the front of the restaurant or you have turn past IHOP and go back.

I think there was a definite dip when Johnny left but the last dinner I had there was fantastic. We don't go often because kids usually only want brunch there. We try to make the wine dinners about every other month.

Glad to see the Pork Milanese on the new menu. That's my favorite dish there, even though you can still get it at Napa Flats if you ask.

Yes, but you have to enter the parking lot from the back.

For a city with so many people that can't seem to navigate medians that prevent them from turning directly into a parking lot, I'm guessing a ditch between the feeder and the parking lot causes a lot of problems.

I live across the freeway from there, and we have never been. It's not that I can't navigate the way around the credit Union, we just aren't really "French cuisine" fans.

Now, if it was a seafood place that wasn't Cajun, we'd be there regularly. We seem to have a severe lack of those.

Napa Flats Bistro

The new menu was on their website when I checked a few days ago. I don't see it now. However, there is a note at the top of the home page says that until the pizza oven is installed, they'll be only offering the Le Petit Cochon menu.
