No chance he does not get identified. They have DNA evidence, fingerprint evidence, and a ton of video evidence, including a face picture. They also know he used an Uber on this trip so his identity is almost assuredly already known I imagine they have already scoured records at the airport and know whether or not this guy has left the country by airplane And if he hasn't already there is zero chance he gets out that way now. He is going to be caught. This guy was no pro. He left a lot of clues and evidence behind so I doubt his ability to just disappear.
I'm not so sure.

He could be a few steps ahead and left misleading clues and evidence.

Smart hitman only needs to think like the FBI to get a step on them. Not think like a thug.

Was one of the misleading clues leaving his face uncovered on video? Hanging out at a hostel for days interacting with other people and allowing your face to be seen on video isn't what a smart hitman would do.

It seems they don't really know who he is and haven't released a name or much of anything. Seems to have done pretty well so far for a stupid hitman

it's not a professional hitman.

how many professional hitmen shoot their target in the leg, then have their pistol jam twice, and clear the chamber with it facing UP rather than DOWN?!?!

much less be hitting on a Hostel receptionist and show his identity. or take an uber

Yes, did you notice 2 photos released really aren't the same person? Perhaps the one who stayed at the hostel was a decoy and the real perp and the decoy swapped in the Central Park!

Doctors ***** about Medicare too.

Every system denies reimbursement for procedures. You can't cover everything and Medicare covers even less.

Getting health insurance is not a guarantee that anything and everything I want will be covered.

Obamacare requires 80%+ of premiums to go for coverage.
The denials from United Healthcare (and the administrative burden that causes for physician offices) are way, way, way above anything Medicare does.

But Medicare reimbursement rates are way below private insurance. So they won't deny a claim, they'll just reimburse significantly less for it. Many docs won't take Medicare patients at all because of it. My PCP will not take new Medicare patients.

I guess my point is, there is no panacea here.

Obamacare law mandates that 80% of every dollar the insco receives must be doled out for care. United is doing just that. Maybe others are doling out more, and thus have fewer denials, but I have trouble believing that.

Then the other companies must be way more expensive and can thus deny fewer claims to make their nut. They are not charities.

Yeah, seems this one stop at the counter was his one screw up we know about. There are probably other clues left behind by the murderer but they are keeping it secret not to tip him off, and released picture to get help from the public.

But surely someone he is acquainted with through work, school, friends, will recognize the picture and the police will get a bunch of similar looking people to investigate and figure out where they were at the time of the murder.

This is a horrible regulation that incentives more expensive care.

Insurance company can make $20 on a $80 procedure, and $200 on a $800 procedure.

I'd rather pay $280, than $1000, for the insurance company to profit $200.

$280 being keeping $200 dollars and paying out $80.

Same net profit for the insurance company, but lower cost for the insured consumers if you let insurance companies keep more of the paid premiums. It incentives them to find lower cost care. They can even make $300 on an $80 procedure and charge $380, still way cheaper than $1000 for the consumer that only lets them make less.

Right now the only way insurance companies can increase net profits is by spending more on care. That's backwards incentive structure, and means care must get more expensive for consumers.

They can't increase net profits by lowering expenses, or finding new lower cost medical care tech. Insurance companies benefit when costs are high because of this dumb obamacare rule.

Downfall?

He murdered this guy on the sidewalk in the middle of Manhattan, got away, and is now going on 3 days on the lam. That's pretty damn good.

I'd say if he caught not fleeing the country is his downfall.
I think he will eventually get caught.

Depends on if a photo and his timeline while in NYC is the only thing they have. But I'd imagine they get DNA evidence from somewhere since he was in the city a few days and they know exactly where and when.

Cops run face pic through facial recognition software that results in a few hundred potential matches on state or government IDs. Run that list of names through Uber's database to match any of the names that used their service in NYC over the last week and you have your man. Unless he was using a hacked Uber account or created an account using a stolen CC or something they already have his name or will have it very soon.

Pay a homeless man $20 to use his face for Uber account.
It's cold so he is going to be bundled up so not likely the immigrant Uber driver who barely speak English even notes it.

I haven't gone through every page of this thread, has any brought up Alan Dershowitz' motive theory? He claims the CEO was under investigation for insider trading and that he could possibly be talking to the FBI and that any of the other people involved in that with him would have motive to see him killed.

https://nypost.com/2024/12/04/us-news/slain-unitedhealth-ceo-brian-thompson-was-facing-doj-probe-for-insider-trading-report/

Quote:

Thompson who was killed in what police called a targeted shooting outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown exercised stock options and sold shares worth $15.1 million on Feb. 16, less than two weeks before news of the federal antitrust probe went public, according to a Crain's New York Business report from April.

The stock price dropped sharply after the revelation that the DOJ was investigating whether the company had made acquisitions that consolidated its market position in violation of antitrust laws, a source familiar with the probe told the outlet.

Thompson's stock options reportedly had several years until expiration, and the sale of shares was his first since assuming the helm of parent company UnitedHealth's insurance division in 2021.

Thompson, 50, along with UnitedHealth Group chairman Stephen Helmsley, chief people officer Erin McSweeney and chief accounting officer Tom Roos, sold a combined $101.5 million in shares, with Helmsley personally netting just shy of $85 million, according to the report.

I just saw footage of the shooter walking down a street about 20 min before it happened, and it looks like he placed something in some trash bags on the sidewalk?

Was he just placing random trash he found to throw off the search? If he had gloves on that's a pretty smart move. Otherwise I don't get it.

They don't know if he's left or not because they don't even know who he is. All this bs over this photo that's not even the same person as the perp in the shooting video is laughable. They have every network saying these two people are one and the same and that's not even reasonably accurate. This has all been nonsense to give the appearance that they are competent

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because hard men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

There are so many differences between these two, the most obvious of which is the face. No way are these two pictures of the same person.

I've been under the assumption this whole time that the suspect was wearing one of those hyper realistic silicone masks. With a jacket and ski mask over that. Possibly his hands are silicone, flesh colored gloves as well

That's the only way it makes sense to me. I would certainly wear one if I was planning something like this in NYC…Otherwise I don't believe the hostel photo circulating and the shooter are the same person.

But that hasn't even been mentioned so I don't know. It's strange.
