The many first hand videos and accounts all at once say something almost for sure happened. The whole Google Maps conspiracy part of it was instantly and properly debunked. The city's EMS and police uniformly denying any civilian reports at all seems fishy but could be true when you live in a region where the EMS and police are not reliable. A witness would be more keen to share on social media then call the police and just be told they're crazy.

Edit: and the part where witnesses said it "crashed into" the nearby lake was interesting because we know from the Nimitz group encounter (officially released recently) that these entities pop in and out of the water with no trouble.

Mysterious Universe podcast has a great talk about this. Apparently, the location is within 15 minutes of multiple government research facilities. They were looking at ways to weaponize ball lightning guided by lasers, as well as analyze the effects of hallucinogens on soldiers.

I found the statements and investigation at the time of the incident to be very lacking in support for a craft landing. Seems this story as retold over the years is A LOT different than the written statements made at the time of the initial incident report.

There is also audio from the investigation. The recording indicates elevated breathing and a sense of fright. This may support the drug theory.
