Didn't like this one as much as thought I would have.

Pros
- The Native American couple to open the episode, easily. Could have punctuated how good that scene was by making it a cold open, but no biggie. They were funny, informative, and tonally perfect in this universe.
- The cinematography outside of the Jackson scenes.
- The Joel/Ellie exchange in the bedroom.

Cons
- Ellie for the first 70% of the episode. After IMO the best Ellie episode all series, I found her character to be insufferable for most of this episode. Not a knock on Bella Ramsey as much as it's a knock on the script; the cursing, the standoffishness, the general *******ry of her character - whole time I was like please STFU.
- The Tommy reunion felt anticlimactic. It wasn't like it was super drawn out in the game, but it all seemed really undercooked in terms of not just emotional payoff, but backstory fill-in.
- The last 10-15 minutes felt rushed.

OMG, same. She was so stinking obnoxious.

I got blasted after Episode 1 when I posted that she has a totally punchable face. Glad everyone else is finally catching up.

She's an immature teenager who has lost everyone she has ever cared for, like she said in her scene with Joel in the house this last epi. Her abrasive behavior and tone makes sense to me. They could have toned down her f bombs some, but it's all realistic imo.

She also swears to make light of the situation. Not a stretch to say that's her coping mechanism

Those are very different things: complaining about a teenager being a teenager vs. punching a woman based on her appearance.

it's almost like having characters with wildly contrasting personality traits makes for good television.

I think I'll write a sitcom about it.

I don't think she recognized Joel, did she? He said he was looking for his brother and that is what got her attention.
Yeah - she recognized the situation because I'm sure Tommy told her he had a brother out there somewhere and that's why she asked his name. Not hard to figure out.

The 2 mystery horses though...just one of those details Hollywood doesn't expect you to pay attention to.

They are conjuring horses out of thin air, but only let Joel and Ellie take one to Colorado? That's cold man. Cold.

No, but she probably knew the name Joel.

Wouldn't be a Texags thread without some hate towards strong female characters.
I realize you didn't mean any harm, and that we are constantly growing, but I think it might be good if you edit this. Could be upsetting to some to see you referring to a gender fluid they/them as "female". Please edit accordingly. TIA

Didn't know that. This explains why they said they bound their chest throughout the entire production

This might be your truth, but others, who are seeking to speak their own truth to power, might not agree. Regardless, I appreciate the respectful tone. Have a good day

Really enjoyable episode. Would love for them to get to rest and settle down in Jackson, but then we wouldn't have the conflict needed to make it an interesting show.

And of course Joel lives. How is that even a question? There are two main characters who carry the show, they aren't killing one off with multiple episodes to go.
rule of thumb: if you didnt see the character die on screen, then assume they are alive

I suspect they use horses for these types of short scouting missions. Taking a couple of extra with them and bringing them back isn't going to give them a net deficit.

Giving Joel & Ellie a horse to take to Colorado that they may possibly never see again is a different story - it's taking an asset away from the community.

Quote:

. . .
Jasmila Zbanic, who directed episode six of HBO's "The Last of Us," said that Pedro Pascal was an incredibly "generous" actor on set, performing full-out during every take of a scene with Gabriel Luna even when he wasn't the one being filmed.
. . .
"It's a very emotional scene for Pedro. I was filming him as a second; first we filmed Gabriel, and then I noticed that each time we repeated, Pedro was crying," Zbanic told Variety in an interview. "He was not on camera, but he was crying because he was giving his partner everything so that he can act."
. . .
Pedro went on to say he was crying because everything in the Zombie show had been so unrealistic.

Spilner is probably already browsing eBay for Pascal's bottled tears.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Or the fact she's 19 playing 13. Most 13 year olds are not built.

alright, question:

if you had the key immune girl, and you had a trusted brother, and an 'in'

is it better human life management to sneak away on a horse into the unknown looking for random unknown people that might have scientists, etc., rather than ones that will just randomly kill her?

or maybe better to show the brother the bite, then wait a few days, let a key decision maker know, then enlist the entire community to scout out the scientists?

do you trust the community or just luck?

in an apocalypse, how many people would

a) help humanity
b) kill her because they feel superior in the current apocalypse situation
c) capture her and try to ransom or otherwise capitalize on her
d) try to carve her up to figure out the immunity for themseleves?

****, i'd be carrying a freaking jar around to catch her blood if she does croak.

Their primary fear seems to be that she will be immediately killed if it gets out that she was bitten. Straight fear response from others based on twenty years of dealing with a deadly contagion.

She's been infected about 4-5 months so far without issues I think? Even with this i am not sure many people wouldn't be concerned about her still turning.

I'm guessing this will be addressed in the flash back episode next week, but I assume the fireflies are tying anyone up they know are bitten to see about immunity. It would also explain the poster in the first episode with know how long someone has based on where they are bitten.

The people in that community would 100% kill her. They aren't risking what they built there on Joel's word that she's immune.

Yeah, they'd kill her.

They wouldn't take a chance on it being some bizarre, really delayed reaction.

They've built something actually approaching a normal life there. They're not just surviving, they're living. And they aren't risking that on a kid that's been bitten, no matter how long ago Joel swears it was.
