Pedro was incredible this episode! Both actors really brought it in the scene in the bedroom.

Boy, it'd be mighty tempting to just settle down in Jackson Hole and never venture out. I'd convince myself that a cure was never gonna work anyway.

Okay, I'll help you out.

How insane is it in a world that is probably having serious supply chain issues that they are wasting incandescent bulbs by lighting up their little commune with thousands of lights strung throughout town??

If you're not a gamer, this show is excellent and wouldn't make you think this was based off a video game

If you are a gamer, it's still excellent and you're really happy with all the Easter eggs in all of these episodes, tonight being no different

Really a difficult balance to strike but the showrunners nailed it

Did atmAg change user names?

I kid. I like the poster. But if I suddenly read about NDAs I'm going to lose my mind.

Well played.

Luckily, I'm here to rescue the thread:

Not just electricity, but everything. Food, clothes, water, medicine, etc. Having a long term commune resulting in anything other than starvation, misery, and death is less realistic that if a bloater Pterodactyl came flying down from the sky. What's hilarious is that Craig Mazin put together a realistic portrayal of the failures of communism in Chernobyl. Yet he couldn't even put two and two together here.

The rest of the episode was good though. Seems like Joel should be screwed and we are going to have to wait 2 weeks to find out. If I had to bet, they are going to have Ellie sneak back into the college, get some medical supplies, and save Joel with that.

Next episode looks boring as hell. I'm not interested in Ellie's mall escapade.

I doubt anyone can answer that either way without revealing spoilers from the game. Best just to keep that speculation until next episode.

I really thought this episode was great. It felt good to get away from the tension for a little bit for the most part.

I don't believe that they would just end it like that with Joel. The scene didn't have enough weight of finality.

Plus, moving forward, I'm not interested in a show just about Ellie managing a mall Cinnabon.

Realistically, I cannot see how Joel would live in such a situation. Even if he can get back up on the horse, it's still a 5 day horse march back to the socialist utopia. And one can assume that the college has been raided for all of it's medical supplies over the years. Yet I know he will live, as the show would suck without him.

Is there any doubt that he will live? She placed his hand gently on top of the gaping abdominal penetration wound to stop him from bleeding out for goodness sake!

In all seriousness, and this is not the only example, I expected more from the creators of Chernobyl.

I will admit, if he does live..and I expect him to...they could have made it a little more believable.

I see we've reached the "criticizing things before they even happen" stage of the thread

Maybe if we just watched the show and waited to see what happens, we would be left with a satisfying answer for why Joel either lives or dies. Idk, I know that's a lot to ask.

A big part of these threads is guessing the future of the show. This thread would be boring as hell if it was just people saying how much they liked/disliked the previous episode.

this seems like TV show virtue signaling. one of two things happens.

1) he dies - we all agree that is okay considering the injury

2) he lives - a baseball bat sized gaping wound that went untreated for miles on a horseback seems like a littttle bit of a stretch for someone who nutritionally is very unfit over the last several months.

really the only way he lives and its completely believable is if an EMS team rolls up to where he is laying.

I do trust that the show will have some reason why him living is more believable than how my posts lays it out. but it will be a stretch I am sure.

If you can't tell the difference between speculating on Joel's fate and criticizing the potential handling of said fate then I don't know what to tell you.

A) he might not live
B) if he does live, he might survive in a way that is wholly unexpected
C) just because you THINK you know what will happen does not mean that the showrunners will take the show in that direction

But yeah, let's all go ahead and whine that the outcome we THINK may happen isn't the outcome we THINK should occur. It's an argument whose endpoints only exist in your own head. It isn't discussion, it's pointless complaining.

It's a classic example of people looking for something to be upset about and it's a reason the vast majority of people here would be happy if you never posted on this thread again.

If he was alone in the middle of the Sahara desert on foot with no water, it would not be unreasonable to assume that whatever the show writers come up with to save him would be lame. One shouldn't HAVE to wait for the next episode to opine on that. (Even if you don't like it)

While this isn't quite that bad, it's somewhat close. If they happen to come across some samaritan that nurses him back to heath, that would be lame. If they go back to the college and find a treasure trove of supplies that nobody pilfered yet then that would be nearly as lame. If Tommy comes riding in to the rescue, that would be REALLY lame. And the lamest of all, is that they wrap his abdomen with a shirt, and they ride all the way back to socialist utopialand with nothing but grit to fuel them. So yeah, we have the right to talk about that. If you don't like it, then I'm sure you'll get over it.

That's a tough to wound to survive in really good circumstances.

Even in a hospital, the risk of sepsis is high. Seems like it would be guaranteed in his situation.

I'll wait to see how what happens before passing judgment. I've never played, or even seen the game and I've avoided spoilers like the plague so I don't know what they'll do but that's a tough scenario to get a character out of once you write him into it.

I really want the shot of Joel/Ellie on the horse silhouette against the scenic backdrop. That was a beautiful shot

Would go well with my framed wall hanging of TLOU key art

* ***but seriously, is there a way to go about purchasing HD prints of scenes from shows? I'd buy that one in a heartbeat*** *
