Perfect episode with a little bit of everything that makes this show/game so great. If anyone has a complaint after seeing that, just stop watching. Best one so far.

I was screaming in frustration at Ellie that entire time. She just keeps making bad decisions and pissing me off every time she fell down, turned, and stared at what was happening with that goofy wide-eyed look. Then to not tell Joel about Sam being hurt... that chick needs a smack across the face.

Great episode, but was anyone else taken slightly aback by the "hulk" clicker?
I'm assuming that was essentially a Boss you had to get past in the game but it doesn't seem to fit in the world of the fungus/zombie environment that's been created, i.e. why would the Boss grow so much bigger than all of the other zombies, and why would he have any motivation to rip gray beard's head off vs biting him to spread the fungus?
Just a thought I had while watching. It was like he was basically conscious and made a rational decision(although very brief) while all the other zombies are pure animalistic. Sort of I am Legend movie style. Really curious if that was intentional by the writers or not

I appreciated how they didn't spend time seeing Joel and crew run through the woods to escape the infected horde. There was that shot of Joel seeing the bridge, the shot of the infected converging around the big guy, and then a cold cut to them in the motel. Told everything you needed without showing.

So what the hell is the big mushroom monster? Seemed way too big to be a human but it was bipedal otherwise I might suggest a bear. Thoughts ?

Solid episode. Lot's of action and great story. Quite the juxtaposition of chaos and comfort in friendship. My only complaint was I kept wanting to see the blood that wasn't there after Ellie sliced open her palm. Next thing you know she's using that same hand to write on the pad, slapping her hands together trying to communicate with no bandage and no blood (or pain). Slap a wrap on that thing.

I couldn't tell if it was originally just a very large person in life, or did it grow that big after infected? I think they could have done something better audibly rather than its very generic growl.

Admittedly it got a little silly with the video game boss fight and the super convenient timing for them to escape, but that's bound to happen with this type of show, plus it all shook out with how it ended.

What killed me was you first think her blood might save him. Then the next morning he's not responding to her and you think, crap, he's turned. Then you remember, he's deaf! He couldn't hear her! He still might be ok. Then crushing defeat.

As an aside, injecting levity into otherwise hardcore scenes is an art. Ellie and Joel with guns to their heads and Joel's "******* voice" saying 'Everything is great…' got a good laugh out of me.
So the infected know who the other infected are therefore they don't attack?
