What an awful snoozer. I signed on to watch zombies and guns, not brokeback compound. I don't even care about all the gay stuff. I thought the crappy HBO app put on a nee episode of stupid Station Eleven instead of the show I thought I wanted. I am sure that episode will get them some kind of award nomination for being so brave and whatever, but it was boring as hell and if they keep this up, I am out. Learned my lesson on Station crappy ass Eleven.
This is not a show for you. From what I can gather... yes there are zombies. But that's not the main point of the show. It's about human relationships.

Please stop watching.

Is this for real? I thought this based off a video game? How do you make a video game out of human relationships? Video games are blasting zombies and box pushing.
From what I can tell, yes.

Please stop watching.

If you didn't love this episode, this is not the show for you.

I think it's okay to not love that episode. If I just liked it, can the show still be for me? This over the top reaction to this episode from both camps is weird. This is a fungus zombie show based on a video game with great actors and decent writing.
Sure, just don't post about how much you dislike the show though.

But you can post that if they didn't love an episode that they should stop watching as it isn't the show for them? Rational. Should make for an interesting discussion.

It makes no sense to watch a show you don't like then ***** about it on the internet.
Seems you have decided that not loving an episode is the same as disliking the show.

I listened to the HBO podcast about this episode and they specifically said they were trying to be inclusive with this episode. They specifically casted Frank because he is a middle age gay male. Thought that was interesting

They also mentioned about trying to showcasing the different phases of love in a long term relationship and the similarities between Bill and Joel. Bills sole purpose in life was to keep Frank alive and he failed. Joel has that same purpose and failed on two different occasions. This will ultimately build the relationship he has with Ellie throughout the show

i assumed the hole was covered somehow, although I didn't see anything down at the bottom when Frank was in there.
When they showed the montage of Bill prepping the property, there was a shot of him where he was covering what I assumed was a hole in the ground with chicken wire and mud (the camera angle was from the bottom of the hole looking out). Best bet is that this foreshadowed the hole that Frank fell into.

And Bill's hole that Frank fell into foreshadowed what happened later with Bill.

From what Joel told Ellie about how it spread was very interesting. It makes perfect sense about how a bunch of people were infected around the same time and how it spread so fast since it was packaged in a facility where the grain was contaminated (confirmed in episode 2). Then as the products were purchased and consumed it spread ridiculously fast.

I remember in the first episode where the old man neighbor was feeding the old woman invalid a bread looking substance and then later that day we have that creepy edge of the screen visual of that old woman having convulsions. Fast forward to that night and she is now eating people.

Maybe Joel not buying that cake for his birthday in episode 1 saved his life.

I mean many of them would still likely work years after the expiration date but it's hard to know if they would just become less effective vs break down into something toxic. After 20 years the risk of poisoning yourself could be significant if you don't know what the medication breaks down into.

Oh... I guarantee you Pfizer is still around. I'm waiting for the flashback that shows Pfizer scientists watching that clip from 1968 and purposefully mutating the fungus in their Jakarta lab, so they could then come up with a cure...

How are they going to invest an entire hour into building a character and then have him die before he has any real interaction with the main characters? I will give them one more episode, but they are on thin ice with me. Three episodes in and I haven't really built any kind of connection with any characters. Not sure where the great acting has been seen. Pedro is just playing the Mandolorean again. Ron Swanson didn't really reach too far out of his comfort zone. Quiet, gruff, with a few hard hitters. They are doing fine, but let's not pretend they are suddenly Don Cheadle.
I've read this post a few times now and I always get stuck right here. What does this mean?????

Ahhhh, you had me until this line right here. You went just a tad too far using Don Cheadle as your example of top-notch acting. He's good, but nobody is using him as their measuring stick for great acting. But decent enough job, you did have me for a second.

Lol yeah, I use Cheadle as the butt of jokes all the time. "His acting is great, but he's no Don Cheadle."

Cheadle is probably the most mediocre, big name actor that I can think of. No charisma, vanilla as hell, always a safe choice as a secondary character that doesn't require any heavy lifting. He's basically made a name and fortune for himself playing those roles next to more talented/established actors.

The Last of Us doesn't look like it'll be losing steam any time soon. On Sunday, 6.4M people tuned in to watch the third episode of the post-apocalyptic series across HBO and HBO Max, according to Nielsen and first party data.

That's a 12% increase from last week's viewership, which already had set a record for the largest week 2 audience growth for an HBO Original drama series in the history of the network. Sunday's audience is also up 37% from the series premiere, which was watched same-day by 4.7M people.
