Saw Judas Priest last night in Houston.

Presale started at 10am. I found the code on Turnpike's Instagram announcement of the show. I didn't remember it was happening until about 10:40, so almost all of the floor seats were gone and already listed for resale.

I hate the ticket buying experience these days

Hoping this show is coming to Houston or Austin as well

yeh that was a much more extensive tour as far as market coverage. This tour has really thin coverage. Only 12 markets or so, 6 per year, so I don't expect more supply than demand come show time

Floor was $170 with early access in 2017 with A7X. GA Floor this time was $410ish. Not terrible for two shows.

However I got 2 Frantic early access GA with free shirt/drink/etc. $745 each with fees!!

I don't think the couple of lower experience packages were worth it.

Seek and destroy was $750 plus fees, guaranteeing rows 2 through about 12. I got row 4 with regular tickets, $390 with fees.

That's ~$350 premium to have:

• One (1) limited edition Metallica merchandise item*
• Express lane at a designated merchandise stand
• On-site perks such as priority check-in, dedicated support staff, and a fast-track lane into the venue

Or for example the moth package which is pit. Pit was $650 + fees, package was $1300 plus fees, so $650 premium for

• Party with other Metallica fans BOTH nights at the official "Black Box" pre-show lounge, which includes three (3) complimentary beverages, as well as appetizers and bar snacks
• One (1) limited edition Metallica merchandise item***
• One (1) MP3 download of the live audio from both shows***
• Express lane at a designated merchandise stand
• On-site perks such as priority check-in, dedicated support staff, and a fast-track lane into the venue

Those are not worth it to me at all.

A G/A package however gets you in early, which carries a lot of value. But with reserved seats, who cares. And snake pit is small enough to not have to deal with early entry.

I see an article *****ing about the $7000 metallica ticket.
It's a platform that includes you plus 8, and it comes with free drinks and a piece of merch. Also access to black box which has apps and more free drinks.

Let's break it down,
For $1000 a piece (assuming $1k fee), each person gets
2 concerts in a spot comparative to GA (but way better since close up and private) that's $500 right there.
Free merchandise - $50 shirt
Free drinks - this is where you can go for it to lower your cost.
Get 5 drinks, that's $100 easily, maybe $150 after tip.
Apps and bar snacks, make a meal out of it throughout the night. Call that $50.

So ~$700-$750 face value of tickets, merch and drinks equates to a $250- $300 premium to have a private platform, above the heads of GA, close to stage?

That ain't bad in my book.
Gotta find 7 people all in though. Probably could find a couple schmos you don't know and charge them $1500 to lower your cost.

End of the day, it's a new innovative way for people, willing to spend, to have a unique concert experience.

The same article didn't mention the under 18 tickets, for parent bringing kids. $80 to get in and sit next to parent who spent twice that.

It's only $3500 to meet the band with a backstage tour and snake pit. They can't charge $7k for only one person to simply have a good seat/view.

I was just going to just look at tickets but I ended up buying two in the lowest section for Metallica…… so I guess I'm in!

That makes two of us. Had to register for Billy Strings Red Rocks for two night run last week, give email and phone number, give code sent to phone, pay a $1 deposit via credit card for two separate transactions just to have a chance at buying tickets, of which they said even if you're pre-selected it doesn't guarantee you'll be able to buy.

AXS said all people registered would be notified yesterday whether they were lottery winners or NOT via email. Got zero communication and totally shutout.

I thought that would be a good system to cut down on scalpers and bots but ****, I can't even try during an actual on sale and now have to go secondary market regardless which will be outrageous.

Guess it still beats Ticket******* but the whole industry sucks.

There's a couple posts up there somewhere about it. I grabbed 4 tickets to it on Wednesday. Turnpike and Avetts are probably my wife and I's two favorite bands to see live, so it should be a great show!

Billy sold out both nights Red Rocks in a second today. I went to try to buy tickets 15 minutes after on sale after losing out on the lottery and all I could find was resale 5th row for $1,750 each. Nice system you got there, AXS.

Oh well, will have to press my luck for 3 night run in St. Augustine, FL which I'm sure will be a cluster f as well.

That was awesome!!! They absolutely killed it! Phil sounded amazing, Zakk shredded and Charlie wrecked it. Now I really can't wait til August

Maybe I'm just being overly picky but I thought Zakk was pretty meh. Just doesn't sound right to me.

Just as I suspected, Billy Strings has moved on up to the big Moody Center in Austin already. Public on sale for both nights June 2nd and 3rd this Friday morning at 10 Central on ticketmaster. Artist pre-sale tomorrow at 10 as well. Highly recommend obviously checking them out if you're anywhere close.

How is that venue btw for anybody that has been? It'll be my first time.

The venue itself is just fine, but it's a ***** and a half to get in and out of. It's on Tu's campus, so there's no nearby parking. Highly recommend getting a ride there if you can. It's a logistical nightmare leaving too. Good luck lol. I personally won't be back to it based on where it is and the logistics of it again, unless it's something I truly can't miss. Like Elvis Presley back from the dead.
