I bought tickets for a Satriani show in November.
That will be a great show! I'm considering going to see him in Riverside.

Take pics. Post.

Billy Strings and the band blew the roof off of 713 last night. Really great venue aside from the $16 beers. If you're in Austin or Dallas do whatever you can to go see the shows tonight and/or tomorrow. ATX bound now for Round 2.

Sweet Moses Sevendust put on a great show last night in Houston (as usual). After seeing these guys for over the last 20 years, LJ and the boys still bring it every time. Great banter and always humble. Got up front like a 40 year old high schooler for the encore of b*tch & face to face

Hell yes!

"****ed me for the last time!!" Haha!

Jerry Cantrell in Dallas House of Blues last night. Played about half of his old school AIC stuff and half of his solo album songs, which is very good. He's an incredible musician.

Saw John Mayer in Austin last night…. Was incredible as usual. He played the whole range of his catalogue and 3 covers. Highly recommend - he's in Texas for the next couple stops.

Went to Houston show tonight. Incredible as always. Really nice set list as well.

Always enjoy his stage banter as well "A lot of you are probably fans of mine for every reason BUT this next song."

Just got home from 3 day Billy Texas run. Good lord in heaven. The Austin show was the best of the three and that new Waterloo outdoor amphitheater is so great.

Very strong possibility now I'm headed back there this week for WEEN on Thursday and My Morning Jacket on Friday same venue. Ticket prices are pretty outrageous for both shows though. Guess it's part of the new normal.

My wife surprised me with John Mayer tickets yesterday for my birthday, so that was awesome.

13 rows back, right in the middle. Incredible show.

What made the Austin show better than the other two? And how did Houston and Dallas compare?

was always curious if they totally disregard their 80s synth stuff or if they actually play any of it.

Kinda like how pantera never played anything pre cowboys, even though Phil actually had one album in the era.

Late March/April concerts:
Judas Priest/Queensyrche - so great. Never seen either of them live so bucket list for me.

The Mavericks - the best show! They are such a fun group. I will now actively seek them out to see them again. A++++

Journey/Toto - The whole arena was having so much fun. It was infectious. Can't go wrong with Journey.

Bon Jovi - coming up on Thursday. I've seen the videos and they are not kind. This makes me so sad since I've seen them a zillion times. I'll still be there hoping to help with back up.

It's all personal preference I suppose but my rankings go 1. Austin 2. Houston 2. Dallas.

The setlist for Austin felt like it was tailor made for me and my buddies I was with. Played our top two favorite originals ("Away from the Mire" and "Enough to Leave"), covered Pearl Jam (my second favorite band of all time), got a raging Panic "All Time Low" cover, many other great songs off "Renewal", and the venue was excellent. It was 70 degrees outside with a stellar breeze the whole show. I had a great spot on the aisle and security was so laxed that I just stood in the aisle most of it and could see everything so well.

Houston was great as well and I really enjoyed the venue. Wasn't familiar with a lot of the old standards they played but it was my first time seeing them with the fiddle player so that was a nice treat. Little did I know that guy would join them for the entire Texas run. I really hope he's a permanent member now. Just adds a whole extra layer that's phenomenal.

Enjoyed Dallas a lot but it was very packed so my vantage point wasn't near as good. Still a good setlist and excellent playing. The strange thing about that show is I met up with 20 friends at a bar next to the venue and somehow hardly ever saw most of them again once we entered and spent most of the second set by myself so I guess I just didn't have quite as much fun at that one per se but still had a blast. Actually looking back I like the Dallas setlist more than Houston. That "Hide and Seek" second set ender was fire.

But Austin-that one will be hard to top going forward.

Billy posted on his IG today him out fishing again with Les Claypool somewhere. Can't wait for them to do a project together.

Has anyone seen Fogerty play in the last 2-3 years?

I'm not expecting greatness, but it's hard to look past that setlist... just wondering if it's worth the money or if I'm going to be sitting there for 2 hours thinking "man this is bad".

Yeah… in Austin he said "do you ever wake up from a nap and some realization hits you really hard? today I woke up from my nap and I was like holy sh** I'm John Mayer this is awesome"

I had looked at a set list from earlier in the tour from Florida and I was pleased to see he changed up a decent amount in Austin… not sure if he played a similar one in Houston. The show was incredible… just wish there was a little more from Born and Raised, although my opinion of that album seems to be somewhat higher than others'.

I saw this announcement and immediately thought, wait this looks like some Gin Blossoms/Spin doctors tour schedule. Staind has been demoted to casinos in cities that no one ever tours to, including 3 stops in OK?? They're one of the biggest hard rock bands of the early 00s... Just last year they toured a normal schedule, before that it was 7-8 years of hiatus.

Saw him tonight in Houston. Geez that was rough. He's definitely tuned down at least a whole step (granted he is 60). But after the encore they played "Wanted Dead or Alive" and he didn't even sing the first verse; the crowd sang it all. He sang from the second verse on and barely made it through. He called it quits after that. Shocked they only played one encore song. I had to look up previous night setlists and they had been playing 3-4 encore songs.

Glad I had a free ticket and didn't pay for it.

Contemplating going to 713 Music Hall tomorrow night for Death Cab. It's been a decade or so since I have seen them live.
Love the venue.

I think it has a lot more to do with him not being a consistent touring performer more than it does his age. setlist.fm lists ~250 shows in last 10 years with 5 of those years at 10 or less

Lots of aging rockstars sound great at 60, but they are ones that keep their voice rehearsed because they don't take these 3-4 year hiatuses.

Look at someone like James Hetfield.. same age, much more aggressive of a voice, but he sounds great right now., (many fans think better now than 10-15 years ago). They have ~40 shows every year for the last decade which is much more consistent.

On a related note, setlist actually mentions JBJ might be lip syncing livin on a prayer in houston lol.
