My bad. Didn't know I was supposed to report....

Absolutely fantastic show. Highly recommend for all LZ fans. The guitar player was a Japanese guy who even looked like Jimmy Page, but he was just awesome. Lead singer could definitely hit the high notes

17 songs, 2.5 hrs was just not long enough

The venue itself is just fine, but it's a ***** and a half to get in and out of. It's on Tu's campus, so there's no nearby parking. Highly recommend getting a ride there if you can. It's a logistical nightmare leaving too. Good luck lol. I personally won't be back to it based on where it is and the logistics of it again, unless it's something I truly can't miss. Like Elvis Presley back from the dead.
Thanks. We're going to try to find a place to stay within walking distance in that case. Got PIT for both nights.

Saw Charley Crockett for the first time last night at ACL Moody. Tour ender and second of two sold out nights there. Got scammed in a FB Charley fan page on Tuesday with someone fake selling Mezzanine tickets for $110.

Asked for screenshot of tickets and got sent them along with payment method. Seemed legit until I sent money and the scumbag deleted their FB name and post. Felt like a kind of weird niche group to be scamming on but nonetheless I wrote the whole trip off and figured not meant to be.

Then got miracled on Friday night with free VIP meet and greet with 4 song acoustic show before main concert. Only started listening to Charley recently but man he and the band were great. He was super cool in person and freaked out over the 1982 George Jones t-shirt I had on and said his girl would buy it off my body in a heartbeat if she was there. Then I told him my real name to which he replied is one of his favorite artists of all time.

To bring it full circle back to the OP, Billy Strings was at the show randomly in the balcony in Austin on Friday as he's a big fan and friend of Charley's. That led me to believe he may be hanging around to sit-in last night but was told he bounced after Friday night. May have had something to do with his guitar getting damaged pretty badly by an airline the day before.

Anyway, that won't be the last time I see Charley Crockett hopefully.

Nice dude. Charley Crocketts awesome. I've yet to see him live but it's on the list

Wow I bet that was great. My buddy that came through with tickets and the whole VIP thing last minute said he got hooked a year and a half ago seeing him at some BBQ place in Salado and it wasn't even sold out.

Good to see these quality artists emerging fast. I was shocked it was a sold out 2 night run at Moody. Then just reading about his life story-from homeless busking in Dallas to NOLA to France and now basically to blowing up relatively speaking.....Love to see it. Dude couldn't have been nicer and more personal to everyone that he signed a poster for among 75 of us or so. ..

Fiasco-he was just there in your neck of the woods on Wednesday. Shame. We'll catch him together in Dallas or Austin together one of these days.

Have a good video of the solo acoustic "All the Way to Atlanta" that I'll try to post when I can. Love that song.

I got in to Charley Crockett about a year before his medical hiatus and have never been able to catch a show for various reasons. Definitely intend to.

From his IG story the day before the Charley show. Still haven't figured out if this was from arriving back to the states or from Nashville to Austin. Just hope he has that thing fixed within 9 days from now (He has two and I assume there will be no issues....I hope).

Saw The Mavericks last night at Gruene Hall. It was the second night of 3 shows in a row they're playing there. We've seen them there a bunch and they were great as always. Kind of disappointing that they started earlier than they originally said and we missed four songs.

Saw Toadies at HOB on Dec 27th in Houston.

I've seen them 15-20 times but it had been a while. They sounded great. Especially pleasantly surprised at how amazing Vaden's voice sounds. They played three new songs so hopefully a new album coming this year. It was a great show!

It was also PACKED. Reminded me why I really don't like HOB. That venue stinks. NO room in center. Just a small section before the stupid VIP table section. GA gets pushed too much to the wings.

Flickerstick opened and was good. I forgot how catchy their first album is.

Really enjoyed Night Ranger on 12-30 at the Golden nugget in Vegas. Small venue, sounded great, played the hits and Damn Yankees hits. Just an overall good time.

is there a 2023 concerts thread?

In 2022, I made it out to 27 different concerts. Still tallying the dollar amount spent on tickets, but it was a lot. Going to be a slower 2023 for sure.

I always thought the concert thread should not be year specific; let it keep riding.

I think I remember trying to start one, but it was after '201x concerts' was started and it was booed.

Surely I'm not the only one that wants to look back through the years in one thread.

This can bookend the OP or keep it going.

Billy 2 night run in NOLA was incredible. So much so that he's already booked a 3 night run in NOLA again for next NYE at UNO Arena (if new thread is started I can already post where I'll be in 12 months).

As a short guy, I thoroughly enjoyed being off the floor for a change with all the room in the world to move on the aisles and not a person blocking my vision for a single minute of six plus hours.

Night 1:

NYE which had a pretty sweet countdown and balloon drop at midnight and a full 3 set show:

2023 plans so far:

Inhaler at White Oak Music Hall
Ed Sheeran at NRG (taking Mrs. Spadilly)
DMB on their annual Woodlands stop in May?
Hopefully Jimmy Buffett tours again…

I'm really tempted to fly somewhere to see the Death Cab/Postal Service 20 year tour. Both those albums were in constant rotation for me when they came out, but I'm just not sure I want to spend the money. Seems like chasing nostalgia by overpaying is always a diminishing return.
Wish they had (or will soon announce) a show or two in or near Houston.

Not knocking on the guy; but that NyE set had 20 covers? Then only ~dozen originals?

Are there really that many people willing to pay to go see a guy play a bunch of covers?

I guess the appeal is a bit lost on me. I've watched some vids of him at red rocks, it's good; I could imagine me jammin that out if I was at a festival or something. But going to a headline show of it?

Im sure majority of people went to both shows so i assume N1 had mostly originals but he has become known for his covers and he makes them his own.
A lof of the bands in this circle (jam) are known for their covers, and especially they try to make it fun on NYE to mix it up a little.

Most music since 2010 or so is terrible. I can totally believe people would want to see someone playing covers.

the first night was about the same original list with 13 covers instead of 20 lol.

I get your comment; we saw Pearl Jam who is 'jammy' and known for covers. They had like 7 covers… but also 30 years of original stuff mixed in for the other 15 songs or whatever. Billy strings seems still kinda unknown to the masses. It's baffling me he is pulling this crowd; it's like pure word of mouth and FOMO.
