Saw Isbell at 713 in Houston on Sunday night. Show was awesome. That venue rules too.
I was there. I had never been to 713 before, but that place kicked ass. I liked the opener too, even though I'm a little worried about her!

Yeah at one point I thought we should send her an invoice for being her collective therapist for an hour.

Rage was badass. Set was kinda short and the sound wasn't the greatest but still an amazing show. Zack hurt his leg about 4-5 songs in and did the rest of the show sitting down near the back corner of the stage. I hope it's nothing serious but they did carry him off the stage at the end of the show.

Black Crowes at Mystic Lake Casino in MN last night. I'm in town for a work training and grabbed a last minute ticket. Shake Your Moneymaker 30th anniversary tour. That album was big for me growing up. One of those things where my older brother had friends with older brothers and it finally found its way to me. I'd put it with Appetite for Destruction and Down on the Upside as cds I burned through constantly during adolescence.

Show was exactly what I wanted. Eardrums ringing for hours, sternum sore from the pounding. They didnt let up all night. The vocals were turned down a little so it was difficult to make out the exact lyrics at some points but you heard the wailing and I knew the songs so I was singing along to myself anyways.

Total show was a hair over an hour and a half, no opener. Encore was just one song: moonage daydream.

Would highly recommend if you're even a little bit interested in the band. No telling when they'll break up again.

Take my money..
Was lucky enough to see them twice, 97ish and 2000ish.

https://www.billboard.com/pro/pantera-reunion-tour-2023/

and the rumors of who will fill in the Abbott roles

so Down?

Pantera died with the Abbotts.

Phil has been playing 'pantera tribute' with the Illegals for years now.

This seems like a money grab that wont be the same.

basically this?

A 'Pantera' tour will get much more attention/audience than 'Phil A & his current band with random guest appearances playing Pantera songs'

Instead of 500 person clubs, this could easily be larger theaters or, if that Wylde/Benante rumor is true, probably end-stage arenas.

Brown is quoted as saying this is absolutely a tribute.. not a 'reuniting'. Zakk has been pegged for this (in fans' minds anyway) ever since Dime died pretty much.

And Down has much more of its own identity than just Phil and Rex... Hell Rex wasn't even on NOLA, and he isn't in the band now so that's pretty inaccurate. Pepper and Kirk aren't just some random dudes.

The Stadium Tour - Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, Joan Jett, and Classless Act - at Wrigley last Friday. Originally scheduled for August 2020, postponed twice by covid.

Worth the wait!

Joan Jett still sounds good, Poison is fun and fantastic.

Crue was good, but the sound mixing was terrible. WAY too much bass and kick drum. And Vince forgets lyrics.

Def Leppard was the best IMO, but they're our faves. They have a new album and played some new songs, plus the old faves. And on point as always.

Headlines just came out that Vince was using prompters for lyrics (which was stupid because tons of people do.. Hetfield has for 20 years. )
And he's still not getting them right?

Yeah, it's become a bigger deal than it should be. But yeah, he still struggled on some of the lesser songs.

The backup singer/dancer strippers were hot.

Agreed. Great venue. I saw Ben Rector there last month. Sound was good; seats were comfortable with plenty of room. Getting in and out of the venue was smooth.

I never understood why singers need prompters for songs They wrote. Forgetting lyrics is sorta cool if you're DIamond Dave, but prompters for songs you've sang hundreds of times Vince?

30-40 years is a long time. Does he know the words to girls girls girls? Probably yes.. but when they bust out some lesser played song, I see nothing wrong with prompters.

Metallica is the goat to me, and James has been using them for 2 decades. When they bust out lepper messiah, trapped under ice or shortest straw, I mean I'm a hardcore fan and I forget those words sometimes.

He ain't using it for enter sandman or nothing else matters. They guy has written lyrics for 100 songs, big deal he forgets some.

Prompters are pretty common for most acts with significant catalogs.

Artist may not wind up needing it, but if you forget the words without one that makes a significant in your touring reviews (revenue).

Have tickets for this in Houston. Watching YT videos, Def Leppard sounds fantastic for their age. Last saw them in 92 and they don't look like they've lost a step. Poison looked solid as well. Vince is obviously a bit rough, but I will say he looks and sounds better than he did in 2015. The misheard lyric videos out there of him from that era are the some of the funniest things out there. I can't believe Mick Mars is still a functional guitar player given his age and health history...

Wylde and Benante officially revealed to fill Dime/Vinnie shoes on Pantera tour.

I'm in, that will be a helluva good show.

At this point it would be a surprise for either of them not to be involved but there are no contracts signed and nothing is official. Some people behind the scenes have diarrhea of the mouth and at least one person has already lost their job over the leaks.

Not when one of the parties can shut down the entire tour by refusing to sign off on it. They are still negotiating the details at this point and not everyone involved is willing to sign off willy nilly. Certain things will need to be agreed to before it will be official and that hasn't happened yet. Like I said, I would be surprised if it didn't happen at this point but it is not a guarantee as of last night when another conference call took place. Believe me or don't believe me. I don't really give two ****s. But I have no reason to make any of this up.

no, they just **** it up lol. Or, for the case of many musicians, like McCready, or Mayer, it's called improvising. The fans generally don't like improvised lyrics though!

But you don't have social media going nuts and bashing Hammett when he doesn't nail a solo.
In the case of Hetfield, he's singing and playing, sometimes soloing.

We saw Van Halen (the Sammy Hagar version) years ago, and Eddie wandered so far off track in one of his solos that Sammy was like "wtf???" and it took a couple of minutes for him to remember where he was and get back on track and back into the song. Truth to tell, though, it was pretty awesome.

I'm not worked up over any of this. I'm a nobody but when it comes to this situation I have a source that's as reliable as it gets so I thought I would share what I could to help those around here who were getting upset over this thing happening and how it was happening. I'm fine either way. It won't be Pantera without Dime and Vinnie (which is why it will not be called Pantera) but I will definitely go to the show if/when it happens because I love the music and respect the musicians involved.
