The Stadium Tour - Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, Joan Jett, and Classless Act - at Wrigley last Friday. Originally scheduled for August 2020, postponed twice by covid.
Worth the wait!
Joan Jett still sounds good, Poison is fun and fantastic.
Crue was good, but the sound mixing was terrible. WAY too much bass and kick drum. And Vince forgets lyrics.
Def Leppard was the best IMO, but they're our faves. They have a new album and played some new songs, plus the old faves. And on point as always.
Headlines just came out that Vince was using prompters for lyrics (which was stupid because tons of people do.. Hetfield has for 20 years. )
And he's still not getting them right?
I never understood why singers need prompters for songs They wrote. Forgetting lyrics is sorta cool if you're DIamond Dave, but prompters for songs you've sang hundreds of times Vince?
30-40 years is a long time. Does he know the words to girls girls girls? Probably yes.. but when they bust out some lesser played song, I see nothing wrong with prompters.
Metallica is the goat to me, and James has been using them for 2 decades. When they bust out lepper messiah, trapped under ice or shortest straw, I mean I'm a hardcore fan and I forget those words sometimes.
He ain't using it for enter sandman or nothing else matters. They guy has written lyrics for 100 songs, big deal he forgets some.
I don't know, does Mick Mars or Hammett use the equivalent of prompters to know what notes to play?
no, they just **** it up lol. Or, for the case of many musicians, like McCready, or Mayer, it's called improvising. The fans generally don't like improvised lyrics though!
But you don't have social media going nuts and bashing Hammett when he doesn't nail a solo.
In the case of Hetfield, he's singing and playing, sometimes soloing.
