Surviving members of Pantera to reunite for a 2023 tour.

It's not a reunion and nothing is official yet. This wasn't supposed to leak. It is probably going to happen and if it does it will be a tribute to Dime & Vinnie, not a Pantera reunion. It would likely be Charlie Benante on drums and possibly Zakk Wylde on guitar but more likely will be a combo of guys like Kerry King, Phil Demmel, and possibly some other guests spots here & there.

You could just do a double-bill as Pantera and Down

What Abbott family is left? Vinnie was really the only one that hated Phil anyway. Rita Haney and Phil made up a long time ago.

Unless something has changed in the last 24 hours I can assure you no definitive decision has been made on who would join Phil and Rex. Zakk is definitely possible but he's going to have to change up his style of play if he wants to be involved. The names I was told that were being considered to fill Dime's shoes were Kerry King and Phil Demmel with each one playing certain songs.

Then call it Phil Anselmo & Friends then... my issue is them going out under the Pantera name. Hell, Phil and the Illegals have been doing full on Pantera albums in concert but they're not calling themselves Pantera

Wait until an actual official announcement is made before you get your panties in a twist about this. It's nothing but rumors being reported at this point. I would wager a large sum of money that it will not be called Pantera when it actually happens.

I never got to see them live. I've seen everyone in Pantera live, but not the band in it's entirety. I agree with the previous sentiments that it's not Pantera if the Abbott brothers aren't there, period. It doesn't matter what guitarist or drummer they put on stage, it's not the same. I do wonder if this has anything to do with the timing of Gibson releasing the Rex Brown signature bass. I would also say that Phil isn't the same either, he's a shell of his former self.

Rex has a house about a mile or two from me. He lives mostly in Arizona now but the one here in Texas is nothing special. The inside was very dated and kinda WT as of a few years ago. Think he has a family member living there now.

Seeing some stuff like the Paul family definitely signing off so they can use the Pantera name.

Idk, I've seen Pantera a LOT and I'd be interested in seeing/hearing Zakk Wylde with them, Charlie Benante is aces so I'm sure the drums will be great (even if I low-key wanted to hear Richard Christy play drums on Pantera songs) and I liked the idea of Kerry King or even someone like Marty Friedman on lead.

Still feels weird though. Maybe I've watched "Vulgar Video" too many times and have romanticized how awesome the brothers were in the band.

Where's my vcr, man...I got some nostalgia brewing for a Black Tooth Grin.
