Hulk refused to come out. We can't really tell what his motivation is.
russos have said that it was b/c hulk was tired of banner repressing him unless it was a SHTF scenario. Hulk is punishing Bruce

Didn't the Hulk just get about 2 years straight with Banner repressed? Not sure I understand their answer.
yes, but then Banner came back in Ragnorak, and didn't want to be hulk again.....until SHTF in Asgard. Then he did what he always does, brings out the big guy to solve his problems.

Hulk wants to stay hulk, he doesn't want to only come out when banner lets him. so he's going on strike.
i would buy that hulk has convinced himself that he's not scared and the reason he won't come out is because he's tired of bailing out banner. as we saw in ragnarok, he's a lot like a pouty child and that's something a child would do.

but from the way it was portrayed in IW, i just really thought they wrote it as though he was scared.

that was my thought as well. they did not do a good job explaining it in the movie. one interview i read a couple of months back stated that the Russo's were surprised that everyone was thinking hulk was scared, b/c he's taken a beating before (most recently by thor, before the grandmaster ended the fight).

Just got done with my rewatch at home. That ending gets me every time. Even know that the characters are coming back for future movies, it still hurts seeing Spider-Man apologizing and telling Tony that "He doesn't want to go"

none of the deaths got to me since I knew every single one of them will be back.
I must be dead inside.

I thought Gamora was until they tried to hit the emotions of Thanos a little too hard in that scene. I lost it at Spider-Man, though.

So weird...I guess I'm jaded.

I mean besides them being superhero/comic characters...I took all of the deaths pretty much as "oh wow they killed em.... wonder how they come back"......I didn't take any of them as actual deaths except maybe Gamora and Loki. Even those though I was like....hmmmm.That's it.

I looked at the entire movie as a first act though and we are just at intermission for a long time.

I'm only 5 months late to the party, because life, but now that I've got the blu ray, holy ****.

I read the comics as a kid and I knew that's what Thanos did, but holy ****.

I've seen the rumor floating around. It's an interesting one for sure, but did you just rewatch the movie and find something?

Heard that one too. I don't like it or think there is any truth to it.

I'm pretty sure this was being talked about earlier in this thread or in the main Marvel thread. It's definitely a stretch.

I'm 99% sure Gamora will return, and I'm pretty certain that Vision can be rebuilt. They can't make it where the only real death in Infinity War is Heimdall. That'd be weak as hell.

I don't want Gamora to return, give Starlord something new to angst about. And as much as I like Loki, he needs to stay dead as well. And some of the actual original Avengers need to die. This whole ten-year build up to IW 1 & 2 needs to have some real consequence and weight

Agreed and I think it will.

I am fine if Gamora, Loki, Heimdall and Vision stay dead - all the ones who died (apparently) before the end.

And although I think the ones who died via Thanos at the end come back I think several of the originals die (and need to die) in IW2. I agree we need consequences. And if this is the ultimate then it should be significant.

I assume he's taking IW not too 5. I disagree with that. It's right up there with both GotG, Cap2, Ironman, & Avengers as the best movies in the MCU. Right now I think I would put it 2nd to only Winter Soldier.

Just wait and see. I fully believe we permanately lose Steve Rogers and probably more of the OGs. Maybe even Stark.

You're probably right, and ironically enough Captain America is the one I knew the least about when this MCU first started, but he's the one I miss the most if he does go. To me he's the heart and soul of this Avengers film universe even more so than Stark.

Cap has always been my favorite of these characters. I expected that he would die in IW but now I figure he's a goner in the next one. I'm fine with that so long as it's a heroic and meaningful ending. Hope to see a recreation of the comic book scene where he stands up to Thanos and makes clear his feelings on matters, and Thanos retorts with something like "Bold words from a man who is about to die".

I don't expect to see Tony Stark die but I do expect he will fade into the background.

No idea what will happen to Thor. It's sad that Hemsworth will likely be gone, especially given just how fantastic the character has been in these last two appearances.

I fully expect that Gamora returns, since she's one of the Guardians.

I rank IW and TWS as the best MCU movies, but having watched IW three times since acquiring the BluRay, I'm beginning to think that TWS will probably reclaim the top spot as I'm not sure that IW is going to have that strong attraction once a few years have passed. Plus, how IW is ultimately viewed will likely depend on how the next Avengers film goes.

I just rewatched IW on a cross country flight. Just as great a show on second viewing, but as much as I wish the "Loki is alive" theory was true, I just don't see it happening after the rewatch.

Marvel does such a great job creating characters the viewers can relate to and see a piece of themselves in.
Thanks and gig'em

Dinklage's character was even worse on the second watch.

Love Tom Holland's Spidey. Strange and Stark trying to out-****** the other was pretty fun. Cap without his shield is still weird to me. Thor was the best part of the movie for me, but upon the second watch it was even weirder how he was inexplicably a no-show in the last big Thanos fight on Earth until after the last stone is collected.

Can't wait to see how they wrap this whole thing up.

i think he got caught up wrecking shop, as he was flying through all the fleeing ships. Also, he didn't have an ear piece like everyone else, so he had to zero in on everyone the old fashioned way.

If a talking rabbit and a stick could figure it out without earpieces, you'd think the lord of thunder could too.

But that Thanos fight took what, a couple of minutes? Lots of slow motion as he took out every Avenger in no time at all. He spent longer talking to Wanda and then he reversed all that out too.
