IW closes in China on the 9th. Not sure how much longer it will run in the US.

it will hit "dollar" theaters soon, if it has not already. so will play through at least this month, then through the rest of summer at the dollar theaters.

it comes out on Digital later this month and blu ray early/mid next month, so its theater life span gets cut at that point.

interesting shot of Thanos getting away

notice that as he teleports away, the soul, reality, and space stones all light up. We cannot see the time stone in this shot, but there are green sparkles around his Stormbreaker wound, suggesting that he is undoing the hole in his chest.

another "loki isn't dead theroy." that might actually make sense

https://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/8zrvpi/infinity_war_another_loki_theory_but_hear_me_out/

Quote:

Loki is right handed. If you look, in movies since the Thor 1 to Avengers 1 to Ragnarok, he wields with his right hand. He holds weapons with his right and the sceptor in Avengers with his right.

There are two occasions he uses his left hand (that I've found). One, when he fakes his own death in Dark World. You can find him holding the dagger with his left hand during the entire scene. Two, when he stabs Thanos.

So, Loki's illusion uses his left hand because he's a mirrored version? The Loki that was killed in the beginning of IW was an illusion and he's still out there, maybe disguised or just in hiding.

I'm 99% sure he's dead. His arc has come full circle. But I'll tell ya who I think isn't dead: Vision.

I mean he is, he's dead. But some director who loves Vision will come along eventually and maybe do the creepy soulless white skin version and mine some good drama out of that and Wanda. That could be an arc for her, even, even if it's several years down the road - getting him rebuilt and back the way he used to be. Maybe even learn some real hex powers in the process.

did strange do something here, or was this just a visual effect to look pretty?

I think visual effect. The power stone in Guardians is glowing when it's taken out of the orb, and we've seen the space stone glow the entire series. I think that's just when it's in the gauntlet.

another theory about strange using the time stone. Its a long read though

https://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/8z36ec/spoilers_infinity_war_you_never_once_used_your/?utm_source=reddit-android

TLDR:
  • Strange hid the stone in the future while they were battling Thanos on Titan
  • Strange needs Tony to live b/c he's the only one smart enough to realize WTF is going on when the stone magically appears to him post-snap
  • Tony then uses the stone to retrace and replay steps to beat Thanos, hence why there were scenes in the IW trailer that didn't make the movie, ie, the Scene with Hulk in Wakanda.

Isn't a personal time machine? Strange kept looping himself back in time with Dormamo, and in Hong Kong, no?

The real reason though that that makes no sense, is if he hides it in the future, how then does Strange get back from the future without it? He wouldn't be able to.
AgfromHOU

That wasn't future based. It was a constant turn back of time.

In the comics it can be used to age forward something or someone, though.

Then we can all ask why Strange didn't forward Thanos' age (or turn it back), but that's opening up a can of worms. The easy answer is just the narrative of the story that Feige wants to tell.

Supposedly in the IW commentary, the directors say that Thanos and the Gauntlet are permanently damaged.

I think that leads credence to the popular theory that whoever ends up with the Gauntlet to turn back time will die in the process.

It's not a time machine.

Your source is a young boy in India answering questions on Quora?

Quote:

its most notable capabilities are for seeing the future and traveling through time.
Your second source is a contradictory quote from a movie blog?

the Dormammu timeloop would be considered traveling through time, in my opinion. It also introduced time to Dormammu, who existed outside of space and time.

why have a time stone if you cannot time travel?

Strange was also a novice the first time using the stone. He has since then literally had an infinite amount of time to study and learn all of it's tricks.
AgfromHOU

It's talking about traveling back in time, which we have seen with Strange reversing time in Hong Kong and creating a travel back in time loop with Dormammu. Both times are going backwards in time.

Is it also not considered time travel for Strange to be a passive witness to 14 million different futures?

As for Quora, that's why I continued looking for another source.

Here's the official Marvel page saying that you can see the future and alter the past, meaning you can be a passive observer of the future but you can't do anything to it other than alter the past to alter the future.

Well after mostly avoiding the Ent board for the past months so I didn't accidentally open this thread, finally saw the movie and thought it was great. Not best thing ever but really entertaining, like most of the MCU has been. Hope they can keep the train rolling for another 10 years.

I watched it last night also. I was not expecting the interplanetary movements which I thought were cool and added depth. Of course the ending was a kick to the junk but sorta expected.

Definitely interested in the next film and how Thanos is dealt with. Adam Warlock?

He also used it in the Doctor Strange movie to age an apple or something like that, moving forward in time
AgfromHOU
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Aging an apple isn't traveling in time.. anything future related is as a passive observer. Watch the Instagram video I posted from the official marvel page. It says you can view the future, not participate in it.
AgfromHOU

For clarification:

I'm not saying Strange can't travel to the future. He's done that, and nothing I said refuted that.

What I'm saying is that he can't place the time stone in the future because he can only go to the future as a passive observer and then change the past to create a different future.

Even when he aged forward the apple, he didn't do anything to it, and then moved it back to its original condition.

when asked about the hulk not coming out, joe russo basically said that it wasn't because hulk was afraid of thanos or because he got his a** kicked, but rather because he's tired of saving banner".

i'll have to rewatch IW, but that is certainly not how i remember it seeming onscreen. and actually, i think the hulk being scared, or at least having some reluctance" plays better story-wise

Didn't the Hulk just get about 2 years straight with Banner repressed? Not sure I understand their answer.

yes, but then Banner came back in Ragnorak, and didn't want to be hulk again.....until SHTF in Asgard. Then he did what he always does, brings out the big guy to solve his problems.

Hulk wants to stay hulk, he doesn't want to only come out when banner lets him. so he's going on strike.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/black-panther-stars-added-unscripted-chants-avengers-infinity-war-1131376

Quote:

"We did not know because we had not seen Black Panther because they were still making Black Panther about their war chants," Joe Russo notes on the commentary. "And they just started doing it."

"Oh, my God, yeah," Anthony Russo interjects.

Both Marvel films were in production in Atlanta at the same time, which made it easier for castmembers to go back and forth between sets.

Calling the moment "incredibly cool," the brothers say fan favorite M'Baku actor Winston Duke took charge with the now classic chants, exactly as the leader of the Jabari tribe would in that situation.

"And after watching Winston doing it in the opening of the sequence, it led to the responding war cry that T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) leads," Joe Russo says. "A year ahead of time, we had no idea 'Wakanda forever!' was going to be amazing."
