They won't trade the exception, they would use it to take on a bloated contract and get a draft pick or two for their willingness to do it

I've always liked Holmes. The pick and roll with him and Luka should be good. He's much better than Bertans and we got pick 24.

I'd give this draft an A+ if we had just drafted someone other than lively.

Still possible that Lively does become a Tyson Chandler there.

I like OMax a lot.

Holmes hasn't been able to stay healthy and barely played last year. But for a big guy, at least he hits FTs. If he can give you anything, it's a bonus.

So assuming we wanted lively as our guy all along(which I don't agree with but whatever), the Mavs managed to turn bertans into a better and younger version of Dwight Powell plus a first round rookie. That seems pretty damn good.

Multiple talking heads said Dallas wanted Lively if they kept the pick, so I think it is possible. Also, he repreents a major need filled and there aren't really any FAs available.

I see the potential but I don't love the track record of high potential 7'2 bigs. Even if this guy is Tyson Chandler, it'll be five or six years before he's an above average starter.

And that stat about lively having the lowest usage rate of any first round pick in the last twenty years is pretty wild too.

Yeah, I mean he was in there to block shots and he blocked like two and a half shots per 20 minutes, which is incredibly high. Duke had plenty of other scorers.

Between the Spurs getting a unicorn and the Rockets getting 2 top 5 quality picks, Dallas is officially on the clock. One or two seasons max until those dudes are playing at a very high level.

Some guys for Dallas. Keep in mind that some aren't full MLE guys and Dallas could split it between multiple guys. I could see Dallas going for two or three guys rather than one, especially if they can't land a bigger talent at MLE. Replace the depth.

PJ Washington theoretically gets more than the MLE, but Charlotte is bringing back Bridges and drafted Miller.

Bring back Harrison Barnes?
Kuz I think wants like 25mm/year, but I don't think he is really worth more than the MLE. He's too inefficient
