I think I am set for promotion, but it would be good to win my third straight title.

I have accidentally placed my 16000+ asi keeper on the transfer for $30K instead of $30M.
He's certainly worth alot more. He's a big reason why I'm about to win my division.

yeah, don't worry about that...for good players the market drives the price to where it should be most of the time.
The top team in our division is apparently inactive, meaning I still have a shot to promote, if the two teams above me lose and I win I go through to division 3. If I'd managed to take some more points from the last few matches (I've been drawing a lot) I'd have a better shot...but I guess we'll see.

Not a single inactive team in 3.9. It was a fun group and I'll miss it while I'm back down in Div 4.
I put four of my youth academy players on the TL today. I don't like to sell before they're done blooming, but I need to reduce costs wherever I can. I'm already running a deficit in D3 and it will only get worse down in D4.

Speaking of, how big was the finance difference? i.e. how much more did you make in Div 3 vs Div 4?

You can get a rough idea for yourself though if you look at what the minimum fan levels are for the division above you, and calculate your average attendance from there. Then multiply that by what you're making per spectator in the lower league. Then you can add in any upgrades to food+merch that you want to make--they give you the numbers for those things right up front now.
Of course, there are other factors, but that will give you some idea.
So will you be downgrading some then?

Facilities are what gets really expensive. I'm at TG 7 and YD 6 and I'm several million in the hole each week (around 4m I think).
I was just barely running a deficit in D3. I'm just not sure how it's going to play out back in D4 with the upgrades I made after promoting. Maybe it won't be a big problem.

Will you lose part of your fanbase when you go to div 4? I thought that div 3 teams would maintain their fanbases and that they would just have a little less each week for sponsor money and season-ending bonuses.

You won't lose fans as quickly as you might think. You won't immediately drop to the div 4 fan limit after the first game. You will lose fans if you lose games (at the same rate that you would expect to) but if you win games, your fan number will remain constant even if it is way above the division 4 fan limit. If you go undefeated the entire season or even just lose a handful of games, you'll see very little drop in your fan base.
I lost my final game of the season 1-2 tonight to wrap up 5th place in my group. I only gave up two shots the whole match, but both went in. I faltered the last few weeks and really missed a chance at promotion.
The sad thing is that it doesn't look like we'll see the new ME this next season, so I'm doomed to repeat my completely random results again this next go-round.

yeah i was in first and then gave up a third of my season's goals in the last three games to slip to 5th. Oh well, the long haul right?

TBS, which of your prospects on the TL are worth taking a look at? I have most of my scouts out looking at guys for the NT sale.
My club lost 1-0 last night to the champion to finish 2nd in 4.1. We loss in spite of outshooting the opponent. The champion had a better overall squad, so there is no shame in losing since we get promoted to D3. I really have to revamp my roster in order to compete at this level.

I am pondering not expanding my TG and YD past 5 (maybe 6 for YD to guarantee 2 prospects), and using the TL almost exclusively to improve my team. The profit saved from not having expensive facilities should enable me to buy older players (28+) off TL. I have devised a super secret economic formula that should allow for me to find players priced well. The only problem is I have to live on the TL or get pro to help out with the auctions. Have I lost my mind?

There have been others with this philosophy. You can do well with it, but there are limits. I doubt you could ever make it to the ML like that.
But the biggest problem I have with it is the time investment. I have neither the desire nor the ability to devote several hours each day to the transfer list. If you do, then give your plan a try.

Gaslaw, you got lucky! I picked up a nice replacement GK the other night (after my starter went down for 7 games in our league opener)... problem was that the auction didn't end until around halftime of our friendly.

My squad is still in 4.23. We lost the first match 1-0 (with my keeper going down early on and then losing my best DC with a RC) but rebounded with a 2-1 win last night.

Played a decent team yesterday, but pulled off the 2-1 win.
I had 5 yellow cards and he had 1...but he also had a red part way through the second half.

4.19 here, in 6th with 4 points after two matches. My first match was a cracker, won it 2-1 with a freekick goal in the 72nd and then a stoppage time winner...both from my 18 year old 
I initially did the low YD/high TL time plan, and it does work to an extent (if you have the time), though I think to make it work you also have to invest in yout TG and develop some youths that you've purchased. My issue now is that I'm spending tons on my level 6 YD and I haven't signed a player in 8 or 9 weeks. In that time I haven't seen a player with a starting skill over 6.

Jeff if it makes you feel better, I just got drubbed in a 3-0 loss in league play. The team had three front line players with 15k ASI+. I am in 4.14 and it will be a tough season. It looks like with the strong amount of strikers in my group that I need to upgrade my goalie in a bad way. So, off to the TL!
Was relegated to 4.27. After two matches, I'm top of the table with 6 points and 5-1 gd. I intend to win this division.
