Is there a way to calculate what a keeper's coach will train at? I finished a search but I don't think anybody will be better than what I have. I hate to toss them and start another search if I have somebody better now.
Thinice, not sure what div you are but I posted this FC for denied earlier and he went pretty cheap. Someone with that kinda of skillset is what you're looking for, you might be able to swing a 3.5 star FC if you do some searching. big things are finishing, heading, longshots, and strength, decent pace, workrate, positioning, and tech are good too.
Is it a bad idea to pick a formation and develop your team in the long run to stick with that formation?
I am running a 3-2-3-2 now and am just thinking about keeping that, but have several U21 players that don't fit in that formation that I am considering selling off even though I think they are potential starters in other formations. Then buying/prefering the positions that I need to keep running that formation whenever I get my weekly pull, selling whatever else is worthwile but doesn't fit with my style.
I don't think it's a bad idea (and is actually a pretty good one) but you also need to build in some flexibility as you'll encounter injuries, suspensions, etc. You may also, at some point, pull a player that makes it worth adapting your formation (you pull a 20* MC or something).
I run primarily a 3-5-2 (two DMCs, OMC, ML/MR) but I have the ability to easily adapt to a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. With a few players that either adapt well or play multiple positions (I've found DC/DMCs and ML/OML or MR/OMR's very useful). It's not too tough to do.
That is what I am starting to like about the 3-2-3-2. Whenever I have an injury it easily adapts to several other formations; 4-2-2-2, 3-5-2, and some other formations that I don't know the name of.
I have 2 guys up for sale. 30 yr old American DR with solid skill pts. I've started him for almost 6 yrs. I'm switching to a couple much younger guys going forward. He hs a routine in the 20s, so he's been around the block. Career 5.3 rating. Worst year was last year in Div3 at 4.72 when I gutted the rest of the team. So he was a lone veteran and performed admirally.
Other guy is a 21 yr old ML/DML that I bought a few seasons ago but have no space for since I have a 19 rated ML from my YD that I need to get routine on my B team. Just time to move him on. Solid stats but nothing over the top. I'm selling at half the starting value that I could.
I finished as the runner up in 5.44, so I am getting promoted. Yay me!!!
Next year should be interesting as I am losing my best player to retirement on top of going to D4. He won two MVPs and finished 7th this year with a 6.69, earning a career average of 6.35 over six seasons.
Looks like I'll be relegating back to division 4 for next season. This is embarrassing. Two of my starting midfielders will likely total more ASI than some of my opponents next season.
Hopefully this time next year I'll have more depth on defense with a couple of blooming youths and maybe a purchase or two.
We had a guy like that in my group (4.1) this season. He walked away with it, but I think I swept him. I know I won the second time with a depleted roster, but may have tied the first time. He scalped the rest of my league though.
I had such a really bad injury season. Never had this problem before. It was all defensive guys too and most hadn't had problems before. Oddly, I ran the table while up to 6 of them were out using backups. When I got them back, I dropped 2 straight and dropped from 2nd to 3rd. Ugh. Maybe my backups should be my starters.
Good question and to be honest I'm not entirely sure.
I ran a 3-2-3-2 in my first few seasons and did well with it but it didn't seem as effective once I got into D4. I abandoned it and ran a 4-4-2 for a while and did well with that then with the new Match Engine things seem to shift a bit. I noticed a lot of upper division teams running a 3-5-2 (basically a 3-2-3-2 but subsituting DML/DMR or ML/MR for the OMR/OML), the main reason being that having 5 midfielders tends to give you a possession advantage.
I run primarily a 3-5-2 with an OMC, ML/MR, and two DMCs and have done really well in D3 (heading back to D2 after destroying the rest of my group this season). I think a 3-2-3-2 leaves you a bit exposed defensively (especially on the outside) whereas a 3-5-2 gives you a bit more support there and can still be very attacking if you have talented outside mids.
I've been running a 3232 for 2 seasons in div 3 and I'm holding my own. I tend to give up more goals than those in a 352 but then again i'm weak on the backline and at gk so i'm not sure anything would help lol.
I have a guy who is due to retire that I do not want to pay the $250k wage on for next week when he is going to be retiring. I also do not want to can him if his stats will be preserved in perpetuity upon retirement.
Did anybody else lose a lot of money during the switch to new season? I had about 30-40m at the end of last season, but now with sponsor money I only have 30. It shows that I was negative 1.5m in my "last week"
heard it happened to some others as well. basically I am short about 35mil right now
I believe Dre and I are now in the same division :-)
Joe, there was a note on the homepage mentioning that some player wages were off last week and that was being fixed, do you notice anything odd in your finance report? That will also tell you if you got your bonus.
there was a bug in the season update that cost a lot of teams a lot of money (mine included). it was first reported for those teams that did not have B teams at the time of the update, but it looks like the error may effect even more squads.
So long story short, there was a bug during the update that resulted in a lot of clubs losing lots of money. They are working on fixing it...
The worst part is I am missing vital money that would have been spent by now on a DR, as I do not have one any longer. It sucks to watch someone go for far less than you would have payed but can't do anything about it since your money is caught up in some random bug.
Oh well, it isn't like my team is ready for div 3 anyway.
Huh, glad I just put 4 players on the market. Bastages!
BTW, I have 4 players on the TL.
-A 19yr old F was 2 years left of bloom. Already 14 F and I think he's got real good pace too for a blooming 19yr old. Only $2 M. Could be a steal in this market.
-30yr old DR that's started for me for 6-7 seasons. I just had a younger guy pass him a bit. No great bargain, but will be good for 2-3 more years.
-a decent OMC that ended bloom after only 2 yrs with me. Not happy about him, but he's got decent stats I guess. I'd pass on him.
-a decent foreign ML/DML. I've overpriced him prolly for the boon market.
